Dogs Eating Dogs is fucking incredible

 

I wish I could enjoy Dogs Eating Dogs. I think it's the production that killed it for me.

 

DED has definitely grown on me since it's release.

 

The production is raw for sure, but I enjoy that quality about it. Honestly I think Pretty Little Girl is one of the best songs Tom has ever written, and I don't even mind the Yelawolf part anymore.

 

DED is a mixed bag for me. I like it don't get me wrong, and I was hyped when it came out. I love the title track, When I Was Young, and Boxing Day. Disaster....I like it I'll sing along with it, but I would swear it's an AvA song. PLG I loved until Yelawolf came on, and that's nothing against him or hip hop it just didn't fit the song. I actually have a burned copy of neighborhoods where I switched out This is Home and Fighting the gravity and put WIWY, DED and Boxing on it. But on its own, I don't revisit it all that often anymore. 3/5 stars.

 

I have to say I love the blink fandom lol. There's so much of a catalogue to pick from, and there's such varying degrees of which sounds and songs people like best. This thread shows it nicely too; some like and some dislike Neighborhoods and DED. Some like and some dislike California. And so on and so forth. It's kind of fascinating actually. Viva La Blink!

 

I think DED is really fantastic actually. I'm really nostalgic for it.

I mean, i am sure that's not all that uncommon. Heck they rank mid(dude ranch) to low(Cheshire) on my list of album liking from them. And no I am NOT making a list

 

I agree with you outside of a handful of songs on each album, they haven't aged well either.

 

I think they were melodic and emotional enough songwriters, even that young, to make Cheshire's blatant aping of the Descendents pretty charming. It's a solid enough record, with some duds. Blown away by what came after, though.

 

It's weird, Carousel is the only song that sticks out to me from that time.

 

Carousel, Dammit(obviously), Pathetic. That may be the ones I usually go back to the most. Not to say I don't listen to the others, but not nearly as much as the rest of their music

 

Dude Ranch is my second favorite blink album after Untitled

 

Dude Ranch is easily my favourite of theirs by a long way. Untitled and Cheshire Cat following.

 

Untitled and Dude Ranch for me. Although in my overall top 5 Untitled is 3rd and Dude Ranch 5th so they may as well be tied lol

 

Yep. Untitled and Dude Ranch are my number 1 and 2 as well.

 

Untitled and TOYPJ are my top two.

 

For what it's worth someone said in the Trio FB group that they said they met Travis and he said that Matt is recording with Trio after the European tour.

Nothing against Untitled. It's definitely their best work. But if it wasn't for Dude Ranch and TOYPAJ I'd probably still only be listening to Nortorious BIG, Tupac, Busta Rhymes, and Coolio. Yeah, that's what I was into in 1997.
