I'm bummed too that Trio gets put off for longer but some people in a Trio FB group have been throwing around "Matt's been unhappy" and I watch this and he couldn't look more comfortable and happy to me being in blink lol

 

I really love Sober and Los Angeles in that performance. Violence and I Miss You too for that matter

 

It's been said, but damn, the bridge in misery gets me every damn time! Chills. Magic!

 

Yeah that sounds more like wishful thinking. If he was unhappy I doubt he would have agreed to go back into the studio later this year with blink instead of doing a Trio album.

 

He could be having fun and be unhappy.

 

Again I doubt it, but I'm sure when he signed the contract it probably had all the details. I mean sure he's happy but at the same time he could be bummed. Maybe that's me being in denial and hopes he abandoneds Blink. Sorry guys. I'm just supper bitter and getting super annoyed with the whole thing.

In all seriousness I get it though, being a fan of Blink who went through the Tom reunion era of constantly saying it'll happen and then putting it off. I do hope that Matt gets with Ak3 during the off time or after the next album. I like Ak3. Confession though if I had to pick him working on a blink or Ak3 album blink is gonna win every time in my book lol sorry.

Yeah I don't know, it just seems to me that if he's willing to go back into the studio with blink at the end of the year he's got to be happy otherwise he could always just walk away from the band especially since he has the Trio as a fall back. In his interview yesterday with Ultimate Guitar it sounds like he's really enjoying being in blink and has gotten really close to Travis and Mark. It seems like Trio is being put on the back burner for awhile.

 

I don't know, like the stuff he's done with Blink I like a lot but lyrically I feel it's beneath him considering the great work he's put out before this.

 

I just hope he isn't telling Dan and Derek that he's going to do a new Trio record than not do it.

 

I don't know, Matt just strikes me as a workaholic. I couldn't see him ever turning down a project, so I'm inclined to believe him if he says it will happen.

 

I hear you, it would be nice to get some type of official statement from the band or an interview with one of the 3 members discussing the future of Trio. Most likely they probably have no idea what's going to go on and when.

 

Just playing devil's advocate here but being a member of blink right now is a full time job. He doesn't have much downtime anymore to dedicate himself full time to another band between the consist touring and recording. We all figured that after the European tour he would have time to go into the studio with Trio but it sounds like when they get back from Europe they're going to play a few festivals in the US and then get back into the studio by the end of the year to record another blink album. They would leave Matt with only approximately two months to do Trio stuff. Once blink gets into the studio you know they're going to do another US summer tour and probably another European tour the next summer.

I don't know but I really don't have a good feeling about Alkaline Trio right now. I just don't see how it's possible for Matt to be in both bands with blink being so popular right now. I hope I'm wrong but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

 

As long as Matt doesn't mind flying back and forth here and there when he has a few days in between festival dates and stuff, it seems like he could pop in and do stuff with Alkaline Trio in those gaps, if he wanted to.

Maybe that's easier said than done though.

 

Not saying I don't want ALK3 to make a new record, but I like California more than This Addiction, My Shame is True, Kuts (though i really dig Kuts), and Party Adjacent so I'm fine with another blink record before a successor to those mentioned albums

 

Of those records, I think My Shame Is True is the only one I like more than California.

 

Yeah definitely easier said than done. I would think all 3 members would want to block off 2 or 3 months of studio time to work on the album instead of working on and off for a few months. And on those off days Matt has who knows if Dan or Derek have those days off too. It's not just Matt's schedule you have to think about.

 

Having those records listed out reminds me of how much better each of them are compared to California.
