nah, honestly, you couldn't pay me to listen to any of their albums in its entirety. i call them the boring side of the scene.

 

Hard to believe someone would call Thrice boring considering they've experimented more with their sound than just about any of their scene counterparts have

 

I listen to lots of music with whiny vocals, but Armor for Sleep was way too much for me haha. Real catchy band though

Thrice's tone is always just so 'blah'. Regardless of what they do in terms of experimenting, it's just that mid-tempo hard rock crap that i just never got into. Like i just went to remind myself of Thrice (listened to a handful of stuff on youtube) and yeah, hate it.

Hard to believe they could make an album that strong and not replicate it elsewhere in their catalog.

 

i love the first album almost as much, but man, smile for them suuucked. small handful of solid tracks.

 

I do commend Thrice for changing it up a ton, but I still find them really dull to listen to.

Shipwreck followed by DTW are my favorite Silverstein albums, which always made me feel guilty because i feel like TIHTWS had something newer for them going on but it never clicked for me

 

Thrice, Anberlin, and Armor For Sleep are all fantastic imo. What To Do When You Are Dead is a crazy underrated album and I even enjoyed Smile For Them (now there is a truly unpopular opinion.)

I loved all four of them in high school, but Silverstein is the only one of them that I don't listen to anymore. A lot of their stuff is very cringe worthy to me nowadays. A Shipwreck In The Sand was my favorite album of theirs, and even that fell by the wayside years ago.

 

I've always hated A Shipwreck in the Sand.

I feel bad for people who don't like thrice. Conversely I feel bad for people who like brand new.

I adore them both.

Usually that sort of band would bore me very quickly but it's so unashamedly whiny and emo and the songs are so catchy that I'm just locked in with it.

Grime is more interesting right now than most hip hop.

 

This is the best Janes Addiction song, though they have plenty of greats.

 

Every song, regardless of genre or structure or anything else, should have a horn section.

Is that unpopular or just outright stupid? Either way I stand by it.

Ska but with more horns sounds like my kind of genre.
