I recently dove back into a lot of Used for the first time in years and it felt a lot more different this time around than nostalgic listens usually do. Different in that it took on way different meaning In love and death was quite good, but the first was super.

    No Fun. Not Ever.

The Used sucked even when I was high school age.

    Artwork is fantastic :-)

My favorite from them, with In The Wake coming in close 2nd.

    hmmm

I had the live at Berth version of Maybe Memories (which included a cover of Refused in the middle) on my phone about 9 or 10 years ago. Despite this, I've never actually listened to a full album by The Used.

    the best used songs:

    blue and yellow
    sound effects and overdramatic
    box full of sharp objectives
    let it bleed
    all that ive got
    take it away
    im a fake
    buried myself alive
    i caught fire is okay
    yesterdays feelings is okay

bird and the worm is only song after those albums i liked but now i dont like it much

and i fuck with the under pressure cover with my chem, no shame.

  7. That bass riff in the last chorus of I Caught Fire is dope, I forgot all about that. I think I remember liking Lunacy Fringe a lot? Whichever one it is with the chorus about "running on empty". That song is catchy as hell.

But yeah Blue and Yellow is without a shadow of a doubt their best song

  8. Started feeling nostalgic about The Used and then made the mistake of suddenly deciding that maybe I was optimistic enough about them in that moment that I should try one of their newer songs. Fucking yikes

My fave Used song is a 3-way tie between Pieces Mended, On My Own, and Poetic Tragedy. But I have a serious emotional connection with On My Own and Poetic Tragedy and if those songs are played, I will weep like a big baby. And I'm a giant weirdo and in my top 5 Used songs is a new one (Evolution). Again, big emotional connection to that song.

Buried Myself Alive should be on every list of best/good songs by The Used.

Minus Bert's vocals, the verses of "The Taste of Ink" are actually pretty good. Like, a vaguely post-punk vibe to them

Also the music video for "The Bird and the Worm" terrified me as a teen

This has made me go back into old scene shit and jfc I forgot how all these guys were goddamn children. Jesse Lacey would've been, what, 21/22 when YFW came out? At 22 I can't fathom releasing a song as petty as 70x7

Blue and Yellow is super overrated imo. It's a great song but i think its one of the weakest on that album.

    1. Pieces Mended
    2. Poetic Tragedy
    3. Sound Effects and Overdramatics
    4. Maybe Memories
    5. Buried Myself Alive

Probs my top 5 by that band. I think the worst song on the self titled is still great though.

The only post love and death song I ever liked was bird and the worm and now I hate it. Feldmanns theatrical production style is somehow even worse than his normal style.

I think Jesse was actually slightly older when YFW came out? Closer to 23/24 but I could be wrong. But he/they had written the songs many many years before they were able to actually record an album, hence it sounding like a bunch of teenagers wrote it

I like a good amount of post ILAD songs but they definitely took a huge drop in quality after that album. I think The Bird and the Worm is one of their worst though.

I really enjoyed 3-4 songs on LFTL, don't think I've ever even listened to Artwork all the way through, but I surprisingly really dig Vulnerable, top 3 album in their discography
