I still think it's funny that people think Against Me would play Warped Tour now

Can't even imagine how uncomfortable it'd be for Laura to be around such terrible bands and vendors all day...

I asked Attila on Thursday if they were playing warped and they got excited and said wait and see. So that pretty much confirms them.

My boyfriend wants Against Me! to play because he wants to see more openly gay/transgender bands on Warped. Kind of like how a few years ago people wanted more female fronted bands.

That'd be awesome but it's just not the environment for that especially with bands like Attila playing

Would it be better if AM! was on the bill to counteract bands like Attila or is Warped just a lost cause?

I just think bands like AM! would be uncomfortable.. And even two years ago when Buddy and Soupy would speak out against the bands like Attila it just started a ton of drama that no one running the festival wants to occur.

If Warped wanted to be progressive they would just take bands like that off, I don't think counteracting is really an option.

Well, we both know that as long as those bands draw, they're not going anywhere. I know the logistics would probably suck but I'm surprised there isn't a counter to Warped with all of these progressive bands. There seems to be a demand there but I can imagine putting something like this all together would be a nightmare.

Its a mix of relistic and hopes however none on that list are doing full length tours during warped so all are technically possible

Against me! is only on the list because they are not touring during warped they sound like a type of band that warped would love to have on and the audience would love them. They are also on fat wreck chords and if that leak is even half right (we know that it isn't 100% correct but some things could be true) then 5 bands from fat wreck chords will be on the tour this year

So in case their were doubts, sublime with Rome and the offspring and pretty much out (I didn't see either of them as likely anyway). Only possibility would be first leg of tour for either of them and that's extremely unlikely

    Things have changed.

Pretty sure AM! is not on Fat.

I think there is a counter to Warped that is starting to occur and I think it is just more bands doing their own summer tours/hitting the bigger festival circuit. I think more mid-size bands want to control their message and not deal with what doing Warped entails. The tour has gotten pretty stale and locked in to a certain demographic by and large. Even bands like The Wonder Years no longer want to do it because the tour has become too routine, no longer helping grow the band, the offers not worth the work, and questionable ethics behind the tour. I think certain staple punk/ska bands will always at least do some of Warped, but I no longer think Warped has a strong hold on the punk scene. The tour is just doing better in other genres at this point.

Against Me! would be very cool. I wish my date got them in 2010. I haven't seen them since Warped 08 and I'm not really big enough of a fan to see them on a headliner. TDB was an excellent album, but the last one didn't do much for me.

I do understand why they wouldn't want to be on it anymore, though. The band and the tour itself both represent something a lot different than the last time they played.

Also, if there's any huge bands this year who only do 3-5 dates, I expect them to be on the first few dates of the tour since a lot of possible heavy hitters we've mentioned here (Pierce The Veil, Beartooth, AFI, Bad Religion, Anti-Flag) are either overseas or playing Montebello Rockfest when the tour begins.

When did Pierce The Veil announce a show in Quebec on 7/8? I checked their tour dates and just noticed it.

Oh I'm sorry their website just has all the artists who are on far and have been on far under one list so it's confusing as to who is currently on far and who isn't just looking at the website

Moose Blood's show in Boston got cancelled and was rescheduled for 7/26.

Bad news: It's very unlikely the band's playing the second half of the tour.
Good news: They'll, at the very least, be in the States this summer.

Kevin denied that 'whole stage of bands being cut' rumor that came from here on Twitter...

Trying to guess this year's Warped lineup is like trying to predict a perfect March Madness bracket

Unless the Main Stages are super esoteric old punk bands I've never heard of, I'm out of ideas.

Yeah Warped used to be the "different" summer tour to go to. I remember 10 years ago where if you told someone you were going to Warped, they'd look at you like you were an outcast. That's what made it great. It didn't matter what music you liked since there was something for everyone there. The conflicts of the schedule were also greater because if you were on Warped, you were basically the next big thing. I think it all changed in 2010 when they started to outcast the outcasts and just catered to what was popular in 3 genres compared to 10. Like you said, the tour has become too routine. You wake up at 9am, find your set time, find your m&g time, do both then hang on the bus until it's time to go to the next spot. I don't think Warped can reclaim that former glory it once had but with the power of the internet, a new progressive tour can really shine if they have the right funding/backers. Warped was great when you're able to see a bunch of bands all in one day. Now you have the chance to create something similar while promoting LGBT/female bands and issues that sometimes fall on deaf ears. What other tour is out there where you can listen to great bands, feel safe, find out about newer bands and actually learn something?

Maybe it's just a certain number of bands being cut from most or all stages then? I can't see why both In Her Own Words and Invent, Animate would tell people they were on but got cut if that wasn't the case.

I'm sure there's a certain number of bands a year that get soft offers that later get rescinded as the upper card gets filled in and the budget dries up.
