    Loved this, of course.
My friend called it pretty immediately that the party would be all of them bidding on him (even though it was revealed fairly quickly).
Then we had a fun time of trying to guess if the girlfriend was in it or not. And if she was, was it by choice or by hypnotization. (I don't think that's a word but..yeah.) Even once we saw the pictures of her with the others, we still thought it might be her mom brainwashing her..
We both agreed that we really liked the slope of the film, the progression was really nice and then all came to a head with a nice and satisfying ending.

Nah. He was just a racist cop. If anything that scene was to help set up Rose's "white ally" credentials while also highlighting how well intentioned white liberals can basically make things worse, cause that is totally what you should not do in that situation.

I dont think he was in on it, perhaps Rose was trying so hard to prove the officer's discrimination because she didnt want him to see the I.D. because Chris would be missing later.

just got back. Great. Definitely going to be top of the year for a while, but i admit, i think the 3rd act was kinda weak unfortunately. The movie's atmosphere and the first act was built so well, that i was kinda not into how fast the final act unfolded. Too quick.

Just got out of this. Loved it. The whole first half was shot brilliantly, I felt so creeped out the whole time. The score was fantastic too. Everything in the ending was perfectly set up. The last 20 or so minutes were tense as all hell.

As far as the social commentary goes I think the line that sticks out most for me is the blind guy at the end when asked "why blacks?" - "I dunno, I just want your eyes, don't lump me in with all that", then I think back to earlier when he's calling all the others "ignorant" as if he isn't also part of the problem. Pretty spot on with how most white people who aren't necessarily overtly racist aren't willing to acknowledge their own social biases/privilege. The film says important stuff without hitting you over the head with it.

Also, Daniel Kaluuya was so good in this. I liked him in Sicario even though he didn't have much to do there, but after this I want to see him in a lot more.

  10. Saw this last night and thought it was great. Can't say much that hasn't already been said. Daniel Kaluuya and Lil Rel Howery were so good in this. As a sucker for one-takes, I really dug the whole opening shot of the movie.

Also, I had to look up what was up with the one Asian guy being there. Someone in this thread had a great personal interpretation of it. Apparently, it pays homage to the end of Rosemary's baby when an Asian guy also shows up.

    From Peele's interview with Criterion.

I feel like I need to see this again. I was drinking and kind of stoned and the humor kind of took me out of the movie for most of it.

Lot of people talking about "Redbone" by Childish Gambino. I actually think "Run Rabbit Run" choice was one of the absolute highlights of the film. Opening scene was money.

I'm having a hard time remembering, but what was the thing on the video they wanted you to worship or hail? Calabula or something like that?

Didn't even make the connection that Kaluuya plays Emily Blunt's partner in Sicario.

This was so fucking good. I'm a massive sissy when it comes to horror movies (this is actually the first horror movie I've ever seen in theaters), but I honestly didn't really find it scary, more gripping and at times hilarious (Lil Rey Howery is going to be a huge star after this, he fucking killed it). I imagine I may have found it scarier if I wasn't white, but it was just done so well. I loved how everything was connected, even the tiniest moments had major significance later on.

-I'm not sure when we were supposed to figure out the twist but I guessed it as soon as she took him away from the party and they did the silent auction, which I think may be slightly earlier than they were intending.
-The last 20 minutes or so were so fucking satisfying, I strongly disagree with whoever said the third act is weak. I'm so glad he just fucking killed everybody and they didn't shy away from it, it's exactly what I was hoping would happen and from their amazing reaction, my audience agreed. Also agree with everyone how amazing that moment where you think the cops are coming and it's Rod is. Also interesting how he left Rose to die on the side of the road like his mom
-The acting was fantastic all around. Everyone in the main cast was great, with Allison Williams putting in a much better performance than I've ever seen from her (though I stopped watching Girls after the first season to be fair). Kaluuya was amazing, he showed such tremendous range the whole movie. I also love Lakeith Stanfield and love how he's been in everything lately
-As you may have guessed from my profile picture, hearing Redbone at the beginning put a huge smile on my face.

All I can think of right now, I need to see this again

The moment you are alluding to is the moment I realized Rose was involved. You could tell something sinister was afoot as soon as they arrived.
