Bands you loved that faded away • Page 18

  1. I'm still saddened by Head Automatica, the unreleased songs for Swan Damage were so good. The Audition were supposed to continue after that EP as well, but never resurfaced. I miss Fred too. Such a waste of talents

  2. I coud see Fireworks reunite in a few years. I don't remember what made them broke up, but I guess they had a lot of changes in their lives so they had to put the band to a rest for a while.

  5. Woah, wait there were songs that made it to light from Swan Damage? This is the first in hearing about that and I'd love to hear them if they're still available anywhere

As far as Fred Mascherino goes I think Terrible Things with Andy Jackson from HRC was such a great thing, could've evolved into something better ehh ;d

  7. Ha my bad, I was talking about live footage, not studio versions or demos. I used to listen to them all day 7/8 years ago, then the album was put in limbo thanks to Warner.

  8. Ohh I gotcha. I mean that's still cool, I didn't know there was live footage out there of those songs either haha. But yeah, the Warner situation really bums me out. Really wish there was some sort of expiration for stuff like that where at some point it'd be fair game for someone in the band to just release it themselves.

  9. Iirc they played 6 or 7 songs from it back then. Yep I wonder if this is why they took so much time to release the Glassjaw EPs. I mean both were mostly recorded in 2007

    No Fun. Not Ever.

The one band that comes to mind for me is Lydia. Got into them pretty early. Fell in complete love with their first three releases. Actually did a ton of online work for them. But then they reformed and started putting out shit. I'll still throw on This December every now and then.

  11. Never really have gotten that into This December. As a native to AZ though I'd always see them when they were still local and those songs hit me hard played live, but just didn't translate well to recording for me. Partly because Cory Spotts is awful haha. Illuminate is a wonderful album, not a fan of much since then though.

  12. I will never understand the change in style between Assaillants and their next stuff. I couldn't get into them, which is my fault because I always expected them to follow that EP up properly soundwise

I don't think paint it golden sounds too different from the early stuff. I'll back you on devil onward, tho

    No Fun. Not Ever.

The change in style was Steve (their original guitarist) leaving the band. That motherfucker could shred something fierce.

Good point. Paint it Golden was basically stuff that Leighton already had made before the breakup. Still just didn't do anything for me.

...oh and Paper Rival. Bands like Day at the Fair have resurfaced my memories of listening to Paper Rival on long road trips .

    There's still Flyleaf!

Of all the bands that faded, I wish Hellogoodbye was still making albums and not just intermittent one-offs.

1997 would be great if it was the original lineup, but I think there's a lot of bad blood there. That first album is such a strong debut.

Head Automatica would also be great if Dan The Automator had some role. "Popaganda" was just terrible.
