Did choir, played guitar professionally for several years, have dug into the songbook, etc. Their music does nothing for me. But it's not what I grew up on.

 

You could say that about any of these things though

 

Revolver and Rubber Soul are two practically perfect records imo but each to their own lol.

 

I love Nirvana, but I'm gonna have to agree with this one.

 

Even then "halfway decent" is as far as I'd go tbh

 

Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head were their best imo.

 

Give me Ghost Stories all day.

 

True hahaha but I think there's a reason why The Beatles were so critically and popularly well received.

Their earlier stuff was alright but I think their middle albums (1965-1966) were fantastic.

 

And after that I'll take Mylo Xyloto

 

To be honest I've never dug into their discography, though I've meant to for a long time.

 

As for Coldplay, Mylo Xyloto and Head Full of Dreams are the only two I like.

Magical Mystery Tour is my fave Beatles record.

 

That good huh? Album I should start with?

 

My top 10 songs by them are probably A Day In the Life, In My Life, For No One, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Let It Be, Something, We Can Work It Out, Here Comes the Sun, Penny Lane, and Strawberry Fields Forever.

 

Also:
Rihanna's last album was trash and I can't believe we're all still lying! When will the lies end!
Michael Buble makes me uncomfortable, mostly because he sings like he knows something I don't.
Harry Connick Jr also makes me uncomfortable, like a cat suddenly appearing in the bathroom to stare at you while you pee.

 

Rihanna has always been trash imo

 

The power of Adele's voice is completely wasted on dull, cliched songwriting. Her and Sam Smith are about equal to me.

 

Raury has the potential to be a very well-regarded, successful artist if he puts the work in. He's young, and will only improve with time.

 

Electric Lady is probably a good starting point (with the title track with Solange or "PrimeTime" with Miguel), both that and ArchAndroid are similar in that they're both kind of theatrical with instrumental suites/skits in between songs. (There's also The Audition and The Chase, but those are her major label releases.) Outside of her work, everyone on her label (except Jidenna lol) is amazing. Especially St. Beauty.

Okay, I like Jidenna, but because he's cute, not because his music's any good.

One of ATL's finest imo. His fest, Raurfest, also has the potential to expand and be what people expect of Afropunk, but only bigger and better.

 

i was practically obsessed with Nirvana as a pre-teen but I seem to appreciate AIC more now, rapidly approaching 30 haha

 

I'll check both albums out!

 

Our Lady Peace is an extremely underrated band when it comes to 90s-early 2000s alt-rock.
