Rap and hip hop were only good in the 80s (Public Enemy, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, etc) and Tupac and Biggie ruined the genre. Drake and Lil Wayne are two of the worst "musicians" ever.

Pop music has generally sucked since the late 90s/early 2000s.

I think U2 might be the most overrated band in history. They aren't bad, they are even pretty good. But they are nowhere near deserving of the worldwide acclaim and adoration they get.

I'm almost 30 and grew up in the suburbs. Rap was never something I related to lol.

Kendrick is the best I've heard in a long time but still isn't my cup of tea.

 

Was always more of a rock fan.

 

I'm 26 almost 27, grew up in the suburbs of Utah... And while I don't listen to Kendrick (I respect it though). I listen to a ricilous amount of hip hop, such as Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, Doomtree etc.

Every genre has something for everyone.

 

It's almost like rap and hip-hop wasn't made with white people in the suburbs in mind

 

Outkast was alright but that's about it in terms of post-80s hip hop to me haha. I respect Kendrick but it's just not for me.

I will NEVER understand the appeal of Drake or Lil Wayne though.

 

Drakes appeal is probably the most broad of any hip hop artist I can think of

 

I know that, yet a lot of white people from the suburbs seem to like it hahaha

 

I can't STAND his vocals and I find the lyrics lame lol

 

And I don't find the music behind it good either.

Absolutely love that song, but dunno if I'd say "as good as music gets". I do rock out to it at times though haha

 

This thread asked for unpopular music opinions, and I gave mine. Nothing against people who like that stuff, I just personally don't understand the appeal.

 

Yoko Shimomura is currently more talented and diverse than Nobuo Uematsu

Malice was more entertaining than Pusha T in the Clipse days

Bright Eyes has the entertainment level of a children's Christmas pageant

The self-titled Crossfade album is probably the best in its genre

 

There's a difference between not understanding the appeal to something referring to things that you don't like as "the worst" "ruining a genre" etc

 

It's still my personal opinion and what the thread asked for. I'm not trying to cause a stir. My apologies to anyone that may disagree.

 

I like Limp Bizkit.

 

I dig a few songs here and there.
