Not sure how much content you'll be able to access without dlc. It restricts many PvP things from what I remember.

 

They did both, problem solved

 

PlayStation didn't do both so that confirms Xbox is the better console. Can't dispute that.

 

watching giant bomb play the switch is pretty fun. They always have good commentary.

I have Taken King, will probably just finish vanilla campaign and then Taken King.

Not sure I'll do PVP, but we'll see. I just remember the combat being so damn tight..

 

man, i really liked Remember Me. it didn't review super well, and i can see why... the gameplay was uninspired in how it uniquely fit the world, but goddamn, what a great world Dontnod designed. it's like, an apex example of sci-fi world design, i think, just in how wholly realized, sleek, and thoughtful it is - because the game really does think a lot about the morality of this world it's created, in both macro (societal and environmental devastation) and micro (interpersonal instability, inability to trust or grow relationships) senses.

the narrative was also not superbly reviewed, but i thought it was quite strong, albeit a bit more thematically than narratively, if that makes sense. and, having a well-characterized, self-sufficient woman of color protagonist is fucking dope.

between this and life is strange, it's really clear that this is a dev team that really gives a shit, both in terms of social justice within and outside of gaming (they've talked about gamergate as an example of why we need female representation in games - which, both of their games were met with a lot of pushback by publishers because they wouldn't back down on having female protags. good on them) but also just about developing a world they care about. you can see a lot of growth between this and LIS too, which is great from a debut to a second game. anyway, i'm low-key a big stan of them, excited to see where they go from here.

 

The next Dontnod game is probably going to be the best of both worlds, I'm very excited for it

 

Aren't they working on Vampyr? That looks like it could be cool.

 

Managed to get a Switch bundled with Zelda and a Pro Controller from gamestop.com with no pre-order last night. Paid for one day shipping because after $430 why not lol.

 

oh right they are. seems like another good vessel for them to develop the ethos they've been playing around with, it looks like there will be a nonviolent path and a decently conflicted protagonist

 

I think I'll pick up SOM GOTY this weekend.

So I guess Horizon zd is coming under fire for cultural appropriation and insensitivity. I obviously don't speak for all natives but I don't get that. Yeah, savage, tribal, and primitive are labels that have been used to shit on Native American people, but those are labels that have been used by a great many empires going at least as far back as the romans. Braves is uniquely tied to Native American experience and gives me some reason to pause, though.
People wearing leather, face paint, jewelry made with semi precious stones, and hunting with bows is also not something unique to Native Americans.

If ya wanna talk offensive, try some Halo lore. A big part of the backstory is natives (or at least people who look very much like stereotypical natives) were running a galactic empire, and after being defeated by the promotheans, they were purposefully transformed into a race incapable of scientific progress for thousands of years....and I still like Halo a lot. Or check out Prey and it's use of the magic Native trope.

The redskins name, and Cleveland's logo are where I draw the line, but that has next to nothing to do with video games, so I won't bother getting deep on that in here.

 

So last week I beat someone in Rocket League on PS4, and after the game the guy started sending me loads of abuse, saying he was going to use my ip address and track down where I live and all this shit, to which I just replied calling him cute. He ended by saying "just wait and see, you'll get stabbed up soon". So I was like, fuck this I'm reporting him.

Turns out this doesn't "go against Sony's code of conduct", and I got warned about abusing the report system.

Great job there, Sony. Fucking hell.

Started and completed Tennis In the Face last night. Essentially the same game as Baseball Riot although much easier. It is fun for what it is worth. It plays similar to Angry Birds and should run you around 3-4 hours for total play time, except for one achievement/trophy (if you want it) where you have to leave the game on the main menu for a few hours and AFK.

I've noticed a pretty big uptick in griefing/shit talking in rocket league the past month or so.

 

I'm really hyped for this game solely because I loved the point and click in secret of monkey island.

 

I'm a sucker for indie games that could also be emo albums when looking at the name

 

There is something about Breath Of The Wild I can't quite put my finger on. I see a lot of people talking about the unparalleled sense of discovery and adventuring, but that's not quite what I mean either. It feels very special. It's unlike any open world game I have ever played. This is coming from someone that does not look at Zelda through a crazy fanboy lense.
