I wonder if anyone has said Elliott Smith yet.

My god the music he would be making right now if he was still alive. Never knew of him until he died and it's still so tragic to me. Just the idea that even having that kind of talent doesn't matter if you're not happy.

That's really cool! I'm from sweden and I actually know the guy from ariel kill him. He's been in several really good bands. You should check out Leiah, if you can find any. In the 90's they toured with Promise ring and get up kids to name a few!
It´s like ariel but less Electronic and more Mineral :)

Other band he´s been involved in; Ikaros, The KGB disco movement, The deer tracks.

  6. Ah man! I'm so jealous that you know David! The Deer Tracks played out here in Utah a couple years ago. I got my band on the show, simply so I could just meet David, which I did! I asked him to sign my CDs of Alpha is Down and In The Pyramid, which he did. Such a nice dude.

Back in the day, I downloaded all of the Leiah stuff too. I haven't been able to find any physical copies of their stuff though. I definitely prefer AKH and Leiah over his other more electronic projects, but he's great! I'm glad there's someone else on this site that knows it, haha.

    The Antlers.

Hospice is one of the best albums of the 2000s and whIle ever album after has some breathtaking songs, there is a lot of lackluster songs.

With the news that The Sleeping are doing I guess something in December 2016, them. Questions and Answers is a legitimately stellar record.

Someone mentioned Open Hand right? You and Me was a dope album that, if released today on like, Relapse, would gain a lot more traction.

Likewise for Scatter the Ashes. Now that band ruled

No joke. For such an unknown band, I still go back and listen to that record at least a few times a year. Hard to believe it's been over a decade; it doesn't really sound dated at all. I remember picking it up in store at a Borders (lol) around the release day in spring 2005!

The good news: they still exist, technically. I'm not sure the long advertised new LP will ever materialize, but they just previewed a pretty killer tune a few weeks back.

Yeah I looked them up and was surprised they were still making music! Is Honey any good?

Honest to God if no one mentioned Open Hand here, I would have never in a million years remember that they existed. I had The Dream album when I was in high school.

You and Me was a huge leap forward from The Dream and a must-listen if you haven't yet.

Honey feels very disjointed and pasted together; the production quality ranges from respectable on some tracks to poor on others. Likely a product of the band being under-funded and trying to make an album on the side over a period of years. But there are several gems, including the title track, so it's worth giving a shot.

Now, Now hasn't released music since 2012. Both Jess and Brad have amazing solo projects but I miss Now, Now.

Sybris, an amazing band out of Chicago, hasn't released an album since 2008.

    The Forecast

MellowHype. I know they've broken up but I wish Hodgy and Left would make one more album together.

They are flawless live. I guess Mike posted on their facebook late last month and said they're working on some new material, so that's neat.

@Transient_Hymn hell yeah, I did catch up on that new band, but haven't heard the whole album yet- after some previews I've already assumed I'll like it. Also glad that those vocals are still out there anyway ;D

    Name Taken
    The Audition
The Color Fred (or Fred making music)
    Fireworks (gone way too soon)
