I keep asking myself that question. Doubt it will do me any good to keep questioning it. Better to just keep trying my best to deserve being the luckiest man on earth.

 

It depends... what's her name? If it's a cooler name I might take it. THe only thing is I don't really want some regular white people last name.

I'm not really attached to my name. It only goes as far back as far as my father, who I'm not really attached to either. Javanese men traditionally do not have surnames so he chose one upon arrival.

 

I know it's a dumbass old-fashioned thing, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who can carry on my family name, so being able to have a kid with it is kinda cool.

But Gavin may be having his last name changed to mine which would be cool. It was supposed to happen way earlier but it didn't happen because of course it didn't

 

My dad wants us to atleast hyphenate our names bc there's only one boy to carry on the name and the rest of us are girls. Same with my mom's side, we're all girls except one.

 

Hyphenate names are cool, but I always think that if we all start doing it then what happens when your hyphenate kid marries a hyphenate kid and they try to hyphenate four names. You'll never be able to fit that shit on the back of a sports jersey!

That's what my kid's name was actually supposed to be after court, a hyphenated Massey-Harkins. But she never did it (I let it go) and then in like 2014 she said "We're gonna change it to Harkins" and it never happened

My family name will be carried on whether my kids have it or not so I'm not worried about that. My girlfriend would want to keep hers so I've thought about either taking it or hyphenating. And I wouldn't be heartbroken if we both just kept our names the same as they are now. It's something I don't think we'll sweat over too much, and getting married is still quite a few years down the road, so it's not important right now.

 

It'd be fun if people got married but they both switched their last names to something completely different than either person's
