I definitely laughed but something about the couple's dynamic seemed really odd to me in the first fifteen. That being said, in retrospect, I guess that makes a lot of sense. Cracked up at every interaction with his friend though.

coolest thing about the actual writing aspect of the movie is all the stuff i've noticed after the fact through comments. every little detail was planned and it's all intricately tied together a lot more than it seemed while actually in the movie

    Yup!

This movie does a good job of pointing out that hating black people or black bodies or viewing them as inferior is not necessarily the prerequisite for racism.

I haven't seen the movie or read any interviews yet, but maybe he suffers from sleep paralysis too

This was really great, not as scary as I thought it would be but lots of suspense and great comedy.

I need to figure out a method for myself. I've read a lot of solutions (wag your pinky finger, calm down and breathe knowing it's sleep paralysis while waiting patiently for it to end, etc) but I still can't help but panic. I used to have panic attacks when I was younger, but I learned to curb them over time. I feel like my body later retaliated by giving me those same attacks while I'm asleep. This morning I was laying on my stomach (I'm usually a side sleeper) and at one point i felt that familiar crushing weight on my chest (sink into the floor...SINK). Then I swear my wife was crawling over me in bed and telling me she needed me to go do something. When I tried to move I was stuck there like always. Once that realization hit me that it was happening again, everything went dark and I swear I could see what I can only describe as black wind flying all around me. It sounded like I was inside a tornado and I thought there was a plague of demons circling me. My wife heard me moaning as I was trying to pull myself out of it and she came in to wake me up. She said my eyes were wide open (always are) and that when I snapped to after she shook me I just immediately stopped. She was of course never in bed crawling over me. She's always so fascinated by what I see or hear, but I just want it to stop. I handle it very poorly.

I think the worst was the time I swear there was a demon counting down from ten in my closet. God it's awful.

Hmm, fair enough, I must have missed them saying that the majority of their brain was removed. With the way they had to quickly throw Andre into her office and hypnotize him again kind of had me thinking they were still there and needed to be put into that "sunken place" again. Really confuses me what the "10%" of the original person really consists of in there, considering they seem to have memories and can make decisions.

Oh yeah... it could be bad. Demons, creepy girl standing in the middle of my room, evil voices, aliens, that one time a ghost violated me, the really really really fucked up time my ex girlfriend left to spend a semester in DC and I slept and there she was... on my chest choking me.

What I do to shake out of it is force myself to snore. I make loud snoring, even gagging sounds. It is the only thing I am sure I have control over cause sometimes I believe I roll over, shake myself, even a few instances where I thought I got up and went to the bathroom only to find out I was still asleep and paralyzed.

It's very rare that I actually think the protagonist's actions in a horror movie are logical and this movie was one of the few times I felt that way.

    Anyway it was great

Also pretty cool that Jordan Peele got a 99% RT score the year after Keegan Michael-Key got a 99% RT score.

I knew his gf was sus the minute she said her family isn't racist. I never trust a white person who says they or their family isn't racist. The theory clearly holds!!

That's weird, because it looked to me like Stephen Root's character got his entire brain thrown out after surgery. Maybe I misunderstood.

Oh god, I remember talking about my alien sleep paralysis back on ap. The worst. I remember after my first alien one I looked up sleep paralysis videos and found one from a guy who recreated the sounds he hears during sleep paralysis. I was horrified to discover, at about fifteen seconds in, the exact noise I had heard when I thought my body was being beamed into the mothership. Chills. So I checked out that same video again today and found, to my great dismay, that at around 1:50 is the exact wind sound I heard this morning. This guy did an upsettingly good job recreating it.

One time... it just played very VERY VERY loud and obnoxious dub-step. Like... somehow I hallucinated music at a really REALLY loud volume.

That was just the skull. He was just throwing everything out while getting to the brain because he wouldn't need it anymore. You don't see that on Grey's Anatomy.

at that part. then we all started laughing and cheering when fuckin Rod popped out
