It looks kind of certain Pablo will go down as the worst contract ever. There's been bigger ones obv, but just strictly dollars to worth? Awful. Well there was Pavano for my Yankees. It'll be close between those two lol.

Edit: Pavano was 4 years, 39.5 million. Not good, but not as bad as I thought.

They don't look terrible while losing these games though. There's no way this lineup doesn't wake up and start producing runs once they get into the rhythm of the season. Plus, the Mets started 2-3 last season and look where that got them:baseball:

Went to O's opening day, had two rain delays for a total of over 3 hours, was super bummed. But they won, so it's all good. Went to the game yesterday as well, great game against the Rays. O's looking real good, great hitting, much improved pitching. 5-0 start.

Sandoval was asked to get in better shape in the offseason and when he reported to camp, he hadn't improved at all and was probably in worse shape than before. He lost his starting job as a result. I'm sure it can be looked at as cruel, but he's basically getting laughed at for being fat. I feel for him, but he's only got himself to blame at this point.

Lol if you can't get in shape when you're being paid 19 million dollars to work 7 months a year, there isn't one person on earth that should feel for him outside of his immediate family.

He's been overweight (at least) his entire adult life. He was overweight when he was productive. He was overweight when Boston signed him. He signed with them, in part, because they agreed to not dictate his weight as the Giants had.

The weight jokes started literally the first day of camp last year, when he was still assumed to be a productive player. For him, it's clearly a struggle and for that, he has my sympathy.

People can be garbage and like making cheap fat jokes.

True! I'm not too bummed but just hoping it picks up soon. Nice to see Cespedes hit his first homer too.

Dude's production has greatly declined as his weight has increased and he has an elite tier of personal trainers available to him, not to mention an entire offseason in which his only employment is to stay in shape. It's hard to muster up too much sympathy, though people are taking too much glee in kicking him around for sure.

I think I read they were 2-3 in two seasons they won the pennant as well. Yankees were 1-4 in 1998. Trevor Story isn't going to hit 189 homers and probably not sniff 73 (it is Colorado though haha). I thought the Yankees were the worst team I've ever watched in my life when they started 3-6 last year and they made the playoffs. Overreacting in the first week is the worst lol.

Some would argue that playing the WC game isn't the playoffs, but i feel like it is.

A lot of people tried to say that last year, but they were the first wild card team. If they say that about the 2nd wild card team I might be inclined to agree. The wild card team wasn't in the playoffs the last twenty years? Lol they can shut it. The 95 series between the Mariners and Yankees was one of the best playoff series I've seen and my team lost lol.

It's kind of like the play-in games for March Madness. Like, no one really considers them part of the tournament, but they technically are.

we're all a bunch of weirdos on a quest to belong Prestigious

Laughing at Pablo for being fat is lame. People have struggles. And yeah sure he has all the resources available to him to get in better shape and be healthy, it's still a low blow to attack his weight.

The problem is his performance. He just isn't worth the money he is making. And sadly his weight is kind of a reflection of that. It reflects a lack of effort or caring when you show up to spring training in the shape he did. I'm not gonna laugh at him or make fun of him for it, but i am frustrated by it. I think if he was still playing well, nobody would care about his weight. But like what was said above the weight increase is accompanied by a decrease in performance.

You are making a freaking ton of money to play a game, at least try and put in a little effort to be able to perform that game to the best of your ability. His attitude and work ethic just arent worth what he is being paid for.

Eh, I don't know. As a partial season ticket holder, I feel like my money is going to these players. If he was on my team, I'd take it personally and expect him to get in shape to perform well and win games. I'm not paying you to be lazy, out-of-shape and play poorly. That being said, I won't attack him for being overweight, but I would expect him to lose it.

EDIT: I guess we both just said the same thing.
