Anyone on here know how the quality is on the hot topic vinyl? They are having a 20% sale on all vinyl and have some good titles on there

My Fall Out Boy From Under the Cork tree Hot Topic exclusive sounds real bad. My Blink 182 Greatest Hits, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, and Self-Titled exclusives sound pretty good.

Thanks guys. I think I'll stay away from them then. I was going to get that Thrice record as well :tear:

It’s a relative crapshoot I think. I just picked up the green pressing of Daisy yesterday on that sale. My copies of Moose Blood’s Blush and ATL’s Nothing Personal sound pretty good though.

Running into the problem of not seeing enough relevant for sale threads on the various vinyl boards I check out. I have a lot of money to blow, haha.

I came in here to post that I've decided to sell off some records I don't listen to enough.

Should I be doing anything to care for my records? I know they make products to clean them or whatever, but I haven't done anything to mine since I started collecting and the Old used records I've bought all still play and I assume no one had done anything to those

You should brush each record on each side before playing them with a carbon fiber brush.

Also using a wet wash on them every few months is a good idea.

we've seen the shadow of the axe before Supporter

That is a bunch of copies of Manipulator.

Do you have three copies of Clarity: 10 Year Anniversary Edition? If so, I would definitely be interested in one.

    Awesome collection, by the way.

Is there a benefit to using a receiver vs powered speakers?

Powered speakers, like any electronic device that's a multi-use or all-in-one, are good for a simple setup and get the job done on a relatively inexpensive budget. Those audioengine or klipsch rp-15pm are pretty good speakers. But, a vintage receiver typically has a better phono amp than the one both on your turntable or on your powered speakers. It will also provide a lot more juice, a better EQ, and a more natural sound at a less expensive price. You can probably find on your local craigslist a decent vintage receiver and a set of vintage speakers for <$200-250 pretty easy.

HOLY CRAP. I saved up and bought a nicer turntable (Fluance rt81), and it sounds incredible through headphones.
