A lot of humor I didn't remember in this thing. The lore and dialogue and writing is all so very good.

Skate 3 being on EA Access has changed my life

 

used to be like this, but then i did a comparison with an FPS counter and realized what i was looking at each time. honestly, depending on your rig/console, you might not want to step through that looking glass because it may taint your experiences when you don't have the financial opportunity to upgrade (which, i'd be happy to talk about how i think gaming suffers from classist elitism lol).

i'm not violently anti-30 fps. mostly i just don't care. but i do notice a difference and prefer smoother fps when possible, particularly for twitchier games. i'm all for consumers demanding high standards from content creators, but also think it's real stupid how we have a "30 fps police" group on steam.

mostly, play how you want to play and don't let people jerk you around. "objectively better" is largely nonsense the gaming community likes to say when "you don't care as much as i do" doesn't sound as good.

 

also, Outlast was pretty disappointing imo

 

It's weird, generally on console I don't care, but on PC I will fight for 60fps no matter what lol.

 

Did anyone play Yakuza 0? I thought I hated it for the first few hours but started playing it again yesterday and struggled to put it down.

 

yeah i mean it's certainly what i prefer when given the option, especially now that i have a rig that can actually run games, but if i locked myself in to ignoring or criticizing games that don't support it for whatever reason there are some really great games that i would have missed where it just didn't make a big difference

The first few hours are so slow, then it ramped up for a boss fight and I still wasn't enjoying it. Once it opened up and I got access to the side quests I'm really enjoying it. Some really interesting/funny ones.

 

Yes, love the series. It definitely can take a newbie to the series a while to get into it - tons of characters that might be a bit overwhelming right away, limited combat options, linear story with lots of blocked off paths, but after it opens up a few hours in I always find it really easy to get completely sucked into the world.

 

30 frames never really bothered me, but TLOU definitely did. Switching from 60FPS to 30FPS almost made me feel ill.


Also, on the topic of feeling ill, the chromatic aberration in P.T. caused me to have a migraine back in 2014 and I tried playing it again recently, and I felt the negative effects coming, so I've deleted that from my hard drive.

 

Yeah i think the combat is probably the worst part of th e game. Quite frustrating but once it opened up its great
