Pretty great start to the year, although my resolution to listen to less new music so that I can appreciate it more isn't necessarily going very well. I feel the obligation to listen to Apple Music's recommendations every week, and they keep nailing it, so my to-listen list is ever expanding. It's good though; lots of fun stuff so far this year.

 

I feel the exact same way. I wanted to explore more full albums from artists that I liked but I STILL found myself listening to 65 releases from January on top of the 65 older releases I also listened to...

To be fair, that is a drastic improvement from last year where I tried to listen to new stuff constantly. I even spent a solid week revisiting some of my "favorites" which I now have a different perspective on after not hearing them for so long.

 

Good for you for dedicating time to revisiting new favorites. I need to do that, but I keep getting sucked in to the unheard albums I've added to my cue. If I truly love something, I'll replay it a bunch; same with the albums I'm specifically looking forward to. But I know I listened to a lot of great stuff in 2016 that I haven't ever gone back to, and that's really a shame.

I'll try to dedicate the last week of February to relistens, then. That'll give me time to catch up on some new releases I haven't gotten to yet, and hopefully I'll be able to better appreciate some of the albums I enjoyed the first go around.

 

Some of my longtime favorites are releasing music this year (blink, 311, NFG), but I'm reaaaally hoping for like the fifth year in a row that Pendulum puts out new music this year.
