It's been a long time since I've been on an actual date. To the point where I kinda forget how to date.

I google people before I go on a date bc your head might end up in a pot on the stove and your hands in a deep fryer.

    No
    And
He loved his dog more than me so yep..third wheel.

I felt weird during sex bc his dog would sit and watch and he was a-ok with that.

My roommates are married and he wouldn't let her even meet the dog until they were together for eight months. Most impressively is they lived together after three.

I used to kick animals out of the room before sex. Couldn't deal with being watched by a cat. Too weird.

Been in a relationship for a little more than one year, and I've recently been feeling like I'll have to end it soon otherwise I'll end up in a suicidal episode again. It's my first long time (I guess ?) serious girlfriend, I love her so so so so much, and I'd do anything for her. However, she's also the only person I never know how to act correctly with when she's feeling sad or worse, because it changes every single time and I then keep getting blamed for mostly futile things (school stuff, though she's always procrastinating and never does her homework in time, chores, which I'm doing constantly whether she's asking or not, etc.). I feel like I'm useless, a bad relationship material, someone who people can't count on. Anything I do for her, it seems like it works in the short term, but then it will serve as an excuse for her to tell me I did something wrong afterwards. I'm constantly reevaluating everything about myself lately, and feel like a scapegoat. I don't know what to do, we've been talking about it but it doesn't seem to change anything to her. She keeps saying she's sorry and "a pain in the ass", and thanks me for being patient and like the best bf ever (her words), but she's still not adjusting her behavior like she said she would. I'm hating myself more and more.

This sounds a lot like the seven year relationship I just got out of. Being with someone like that is really difficult and it's hard to say if it's truly worth it. My only advice to you is to keep caring for yourself any way you can because being treated like that has broken me down over the years and I'm still a long way from rebuilding myself.

  14. Thanks for the advice, and I'm really sorry it didn't end up well in your case. I'm going out more and more with my friends, and meeting a lot of new ones these past few months because of that. Her and I both have our own apartments, I lived more in hers due to it being way closer to our University, and me not having to pay for like the bus and everything. But I had a breakdown last week after she treated me badly in the morning already, just before going to school. I packed up all my things and left, and I've been living in my apartment all week since. It's really hard to say that, but I've been feeling a little bit better now that I'm alone, though I also miss her of course.

This is just my experience but try to be aware of whether this turns into mental abuse bc what you're describing is exactly how my abusive ex started tearing me down. I know it's hard to see once you become conditioned to that treatment. I just wish someone would have told me, you know?

Had a third date over the weekend.
We were meant to be going to the cinema. Went and grabbed dinner beforehand, walked over to the cinema, she went to get the tickets, I went to get us some drinks from the bar. She came running over to let me know we were no longer going to the cinema as she had booked the tickets for the wrong night. The 18th of March. Wrong by A full month and a half! So at least that means I've got another date lined up!
Instead we just went out for some drinks, bumped into three separate groups of people, who all play on the same team as us, and we all got very drunk together. Very good fun night!
    Things are definitely going well!

Agreed fully. It took me awhile to realize it but I became simultaneously a crutch and a target for my ex. No fun.

I mean we were planning on going out and getting drunk after the cinema anyway. It just meant we had more time for drinking!

  20. Coincidentally, I was just thinking about that earlier as I were judging the entire duration of our relationship, and trying to find similar patterns concerning her behavior. For example, I was remembering things she said about her relationship with her ex, like how she stayed with him for years because she felt bad about breaking up with him... while we were already going out together. What's worse is, she never (or rarely maybe ? I honestly don't remember as I were just getting to know her) talked about him, so I didn't know she wasn't single. But yeah, as you said, my mental health is the priority here and I'll make sure to be careful with it.

Random thought: But I'm tired of being asked "Are you sure you're ready for that?/You're too young for all that." (I'm 28) when I mention i have a fiancee to people. I get it's a stock reply but it's like the one almost acceptable negative sounding blanket textbook response to anything, especially a life milestone lol.

28 isn't that young, I feel that way when they're like 22, I'm 28 and it feels like the age I shouldn't be single

To be fair we got engaged young (I was 22 going on 23, she was 20 going on 21) and then had a falling out for while (been over this enough here haha) - but either way it's been time tested and me mentioning the 6 years thing is suppose to be a testament to that but they still kinda look at me like "Are you SURE??"
