Over there they act like you're not allowed to have once found the joke songs funny but then grew much older and don't enjoy them anymore. "You like blink-182? This has always been them!"

 

The blink subreddit suffers from something A LOT of subreddits do (I don't follow many music ones, but I see it a lot for non-network based TV shows) in that they think they're following some obscure, unknown thing. Black Mirror isn't obscure. Better Call Saul is a spinoff of one of the best shows of all time. Mr. Robot wins awards. Narcos is about the most well-known cartel. Brand New are a mainstream band. Who cares if people think Survivor is fake or get surprised that it's still on?

 

No dude, all of those subreddits are totally unique groups of people. They even have their own inside jokes and everything!

But seriously, that's most of Reddit for you. Anywhere you go, it kind of seems like they think they're the first people to have ever had certain thoughts or ideas about things.

 

I said it once and I'll say it again;

If you are going to Reddit to do stuff like read creepy stories in subreddits like in LetsNotMeet and NoSleep, it's fine (even then there's some questionable posts but there's some dang good ones too)

If you go to discuss music, movies, tv, books, anything with a fan base; you are going to have a bad time. And lose brain cells. And question your life choices

 

Reddit is basically a forum for everyone who wastes time leaving YouTube comments

 

There are few TV shows subreddits where I had a good time discussing theories and all but yeah overall it's usually a very uncomfortable experience going there.

 

This post should be required reading for anyone who uses the internet.

 

So, watching the rocked review video on the new Starset album and the guy makes this comment (and I'm paraphrasing a word or two) "These guys are at the head of the game of combining rock and electronics while telling a narrative about space and unlike previous attempts from others this time it's from someone who actually KNOWS what they are talking about and has more than just some music to back them up."

I know it probably wasn't the intent but my mind instantly went "like Tom!!!"

 

Maybe, he might be referencing all these djent bands who put space themes in their lyrics or music.

 

And me! With the Used and h2o!

 

Maybe. In my blink obsessed mind it went to Tom. But I probably try to relate everything to blink in a 6 Degrees of Keving Bacon kind of way.

Speaking of which if you go to the Oracle of Bacon (6 degrees of Kevin Bacon calculator) Mark, Tom, and Travis all have links to him lol. Skiba sadly doesn't seem to. I got bored and my joke in the last paragraph made me decide to see if there was a calculator and try it lol

 

Just curious did anyone get into boxcar racer before blink? I first listened to boxcar before blink.

 

I listened to Blink before BCR, but if it wasn't for that BCR album I wouldn't have appreciated Blink's S/T album as much as I did when it first came out given how different it was compared to their older stuff.

 

When I first heard Boxcar Racer my friend and I loved it immediately. It wasn't until I was like "This sounds like Tom from blink." that we actually looked at the cd booklet and realized it was. 13 year old brain didn't catch on right away.

It was actually that record and Sticks & Stones that ruled my summer that year.

 

I always forget Jordan from NFG sings on the chorus of Cat Like Thief. If it didn't list him in the liner notes, I would have never noticed.

 

Me and my friends to this day still have a running joke of when he's singing at the end he sounds like he's saying "DubbuyahDubbuyahDubbuya" like a southerner saying the letter W

 

Even though I'm hoping they release it as a new a new EP or album (really just something with a new title, cause if these songs are AOTY worthy, I don't want to re-list Califronia again in my Top Albums of 2017, plus I'd always be interested in what the artwork/title could've/would've been) would y'all want the new tracks to be slapped on after Brohemian, or would you prefer the new tracks be infused with the old?

 

Absolutely slapped on after, it would make no sense to add them in between. People can make playlists on their own

 

I can't wait to do that, honestly. Ha

 

I think they've spent enough time narrowing down the original tracklist that 13-ish bonus songs will have to go at the end as a separate album almost. It was different with something like New Found Glory's rerelease of Resurrection where there were only two actual new songs. This many would probably ruin the original flow of the actual album.

 

Hopefully they put out all 13 or whatever songs they recorded so I can just pretend it's a separate album, California II.

 

Been a massive blink fan for the past 12 years at least but yeah I got into BCR first. Blink was hitting it big when I was around 9-13yo and I wasn't allowed to listen to them as a kid (for obvious reasons) but I remember watching Nickelodeon with my niece when I was about 14 and they were doing a preview for the next show or something and they actually used I Feel So. Even sparingly hearing blink before that (I think the only songs I had heard until that point were ATST and The Rock Show) I instantly recognized Tom's voice as the guy from blink-182. So, I jumped on lime wire (haha) and searched for Let's Start Over by blink-182 which obviously led me to BCR. So I actually listened to BCR quite a bit before I really ever got into blink.

 

Dude that album! I would not be into pop punk at all if it weren't for that album. I remember exactly where I was when I first heard My Friends Over You; pretty sure that riff made my 12yo jaw drop haha.

 

I will be so upset if they don't have 13 songs added. Especially after the way they keep talking about the number of songs they have left over. Hey, I'm Sorry might be on there, so there's 1 down. Or do you think they will keep that off since it was only released in Japan?
