Lights is a Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter. She has released three full length records and several EPs.






So yeah, Midnight Machines is really good. Her acoustic renditions of her songs are one of my favorite things about her.

 

Love love love her, duh. Hopefully listening to Midnight Machines tonight!!

 

Same Sea is so perfect

 

Last album had some great singles but overall was kinda forgettable. Excited for this one

 

Little Machines is by far her best material. More mature and better structured songs

 

I think I still like Siberia a bit more, but Machines is more than awesome

 

I think I remember enjoying Siberia more, but it's been a long time since I listened to it.

So now her last two albums both have "Machines" in the title?

 

The new one is acoustic versions of songs from Little Machines

 

And Follow You Down and Head Cold are new

 

Just realized that as you quoted me. Totally didn't get that at first.

 

I think she's unfairly grouped with electronic acts like Owl City. I think she's a much better songwriter and relies less on production values than most "scene" electronic artists.

Little Machines was fantastic. Speeding, Slow Down, and Child are my favorite from the album, but front to back I don't skip many songs.

 

Up We Go is a fucking tune

Her acoustic arrangements of her own songs improve with every record. The acoustic version of "Up We Go" on Midnight Machines is killer.

She is a fucking queen, a statement I have been proudly beating the drum for since 2009, when people made fun of me for it.

Joke's on them, though, 'cause we tried to emulate her sound and it turned into probably our best-liked song. Haha.
