Just got a Macbook Pro. I haven't had a Macbook in like 10 years. Does anyone have any tips or know of any good primer articles for getting started? I know Macs are user-friendly and the process over the last day has been smooth, but any additional knowledge would be fantastic.

 

I don't have a direct link, but Apple has some pretty helpful user guides in the iBook store. Also, congrats!

 

Chrome on iOS is a pain in the fucking ass to use, especially when so many apps use SafariViewController. It's not a good experience on iOS at all. It's ugly on macOS, but at least I would call it a good experience. I can't fathom not using Safari on iOS.

 

I can't stand chrome on iOS either, that's probably one of the main reasons I don't use it on macOS

 

Weird. I prefer it to Safari.

 

Anyone else having trouble with Flash in Safari? Rarely have to use it anymore but it seems like I don't have the option to use it even when the site I'm loading needs it.

 

I could be wrong but I think you have to enable it somewhere in the settings now as it's become the default to not be on.

 

With Safari, pretty sure you have to download it and install it. Then Preferences > Security > Internet Plugins. I just silo everything dealing with Flash into Chrome, since it's built in, and use Chrome only when I need to use Flash so I don't have to install that garbage on my computer.

 

Tooth Fairy: Simple app for very quickly connecting to a specific Bluetooth device. Found this very cool to use with the AirPods and just hitting a quick keyboard shortcut and having them connect.

I use Windows computers with Chrome everyday at work, so it just makes sense for me to use it at home, too, and thus on my phone.
I've also just never felt at home when using Safari, but Chrome does.
most apps I use don't auto-open links in safari, but if they do, I'll save what I want to read to Pocket and pull it up on Chrome later.
it was frustrating for the week or so when Gmail stopped opening in Chrome, but they fixed that so I'm good.

 

Decided I need AirPods. Where's the best place to order as far as getting them asap? Apple, Best Buy?

 

Word is, Best Buy is shipping AirPods within 3 days from ordering...

 

I use them every single day now, flat out love them. Earskinz says they'll have new rubber skins made for the AirPods in February, which I think I'll check out. They stay in my ears really well, I can shake my head hard and they don't fall out, but there's a part of me that still - mentally - thinks they feel a little slippery. I find myself being a little anxious about it, even if I've never had one come out at all.

 

They are my favorite apple purchase in a while

Does anyone know why my phone seems to always think I'm in Houston when I live in San Antonio? Every time I go to a stores website or google something, it tends to think I am somewhere in Houston. Earlier today I used the two step verification on my phone and it sent to my iPad to approve and I got the little map saying someone in Houston is trying to sign in with my iTunes password but I know it was me

Anybody with an Apple Watch got any small scratches? I have a tiny one that you can only see at certain angles/in light and it's driving me nuts. I guess it's pretty hard to avoid any scratches at all though.

 

My wife does on hers. And of course it happened right after I bought her a screen protector but before we put it on

 

Screen protector on a watch? Heh. Weird.
