Man, I can't believe that intern is going to be the one ordering Jesse Lacey's take out while he tracks the very last Brand New record. Lucky guy. I'm sure his friend will relay some of the lunch specials or what kind of scented candles Vin likes

 

I have been under impression that their album has been close to finished for a while and they just needed to put some finishing touches on it or make some tweaks (hence them telling us we'd have an album in 2016). Them booking a full 6 weeks for studio time is not a good sign.

By the way, didn't someone post on Reddit last summer that they ran into Jesse before their MM tour and he allegedly told fan they were aiming to release album by September (2016)?

I take this with a large grain of salt.

 

Yeah, so if last summer Jesse talked about releasing an album soon, and now - 8 months later - they're booking 6 weeks in the studio, almost seems like they're starting from scratch, no?

I mean, are they being that neurotic about the 'sound', so to speak? If this is indeed happening and they are indeed starting from scratch, wouldn't this be the alleged 3rd time this happened? Jason saying her heard some weird shit of theirs, then whatever studio/recording time yielded IAAN and the 'grouping of songs' that were mentioned in the memo from Procrastinate, and now this?

I mean, honestly....I just wish they'd release all of it. Just throw it all out there. If the sound of the band is varying so wildly, there will probably be a little something for everyone. Just throw 30 songs out there and call it a day, if that is indeed what they intend to do.

 

I'm still okay with just waiting for whatever they actually want to release. I don't really care how many times they hit the reset if that's what they wanna do

I wonder if he chose to "break the band up" in 2018 as a sort of deadline for himself to get this last record done.

 

Remember when they announced that they'd be touring TDAG in full? They said something like whatever they release next needs to be up to par. I think they had a full album either ready or close to ready, and decided to scrap it and record some new songs. It would not surprise me if IAAN is not on whatever ends up getting released (if it ever gets released).
