That's what I was leaning toward just given the way it looked. Wasn't sure about the comfort level between the two. Do you have the 38 or 42mm?

  2. 42. It's very comfortable (the band).

Good to know. I told myself I wasn't going to get one for the longest time because it seemed like something that would be cool for a bit, but then I wouldn't use it as much after the new effect wore off. Saw one in the store the other day though and started messing around with it, and now I could see myself using this a lot more than I originally thought.

  4. I really love it for workouts and when I'm just ... out. It's great to not look at my phone with every buzz but a quick glance and I can see score updates or breaking news. I'm a fan. I don't wear it it constantly (around the house it's less needed), but it's been a staple when I leave the house.

That right there makes it sound really convenient for being out, without having to pull out your phone all the time. After I started seriously considering making a purchase, started seeing rumors about Series 3 this fall, but since it looks like as of now there isn't going to be a big design change, but just improvements on battery, I think I'm going to go ahead and still go with the Series 2. I don't see this as something I would upgrade all the time like a phone, and am just going to have to get used to the idea that no matter what I get, there's always going to be an upgrade a little while later, haha.

Honestly, adding in the better processor, brightness, and GPS is about all I could think of to make the watch better. I have a series 0 and still love it, but I'm not upgrading until this one breaks because it still suites my needs.

And 2nding the sports band. I've used the same once for almost 2 years now and it's still as white and clean and comfy as the first day I got it. You'll love it.

My phone call with apple resulting in me being told to just restore my phone to factory settings basically. Not thrilled, but oh well.

Does anyone else have issues with their Macbook Pro waking when plugged into an external monitor?

I swear, anytime I leave the computer unattended for a full day, when I get home from work the next day, I HAVE to hold the power button down for an extended period of time and turn it back on. Nothing else wakes it- shaking/clicking my mouse, hitting random keys, pressing "power" without holding..

If it's just left for a few hours, it wakes just fine. It's driving me insane.

Unfortunately, this is usually one of the first steps that should be taken when trying to resolve phone issues. Luckily iOS is super easy at backup/restore- definitely wish Android did that as well.

I don't know if it's as necessary for iPhones, but I tell people to always perform a factory reset after any major upgrade.

Yeah. I still restore it to today's backup. On first test, I didn't get the pop up for the beta update. So that's a good sign. Now I just have to reorganize some apps because I had betas installed for a few.

Bought an iPad Pro. Silly to do it now considering the new lineup is most likely getting announced in March, I know. But I got a crazy good deal on it. 32 GB 9.7" iPad Pro with the Smart Keyboard, Apple Pencil and the Silicone case for $550.00. Basically $920.00 worth of stuff for almost $400 off once you consider that I didn't pay tax on it. Stoked. Should be here Thursday.

Any apps I should definitely grab for it?

dang, sounds like you pulled quite a few strings. the new ipads should be cool but they dont have the same FOMO factor as iphones. i almost pulled the trigger on a 32gb when target was having a sale for $450 around christmas. i have a mini now and am struggling to decide if i want the size upgrade; all i'd really want the size for is for drawing, but after trying out the pencil the other day, its very tempting.

  15. Duet display is really cool if you want to use it as a second monitor to a laptop.
I use notability a lot for taking notes and some school work. There's also a lot of really cool coloring book apps like pigment if you're into that stuff! It's super relaxing. I hope you like your new stuff!

pigments a good one, paper and procreate are probably the big 2 in that realm, pixelmator is fun for photo editing. garageband is of course hours of fun, especially with a bigger screen.

    Welcome Chris Lattner

I'm super bummed about Chris Lattner leaving. I know he has said that he'll still be helping out with the Swift open source stuff (man I sure hope so), but this is a pretty huge loss for Apple. Especially considering where he's heading and what he'll be doing. As bummed as I am, it'll be interesting to see what he's able to do over at Tesla.

If I use an external hard drive to back up with Time Machine, am I still able to use that hard drive as a standard hard drive for transferring files back and forth or is it now only used for backups?

Did you empty your trash? Space doesn't free up until you do so.

yep. i'm moving everything from an old laptop onto a new, so theres nothing left on the computer (that i can see) aside from apps, music, and the last folder im trying to transfer. i have a second external i got for the new laptop, but when i plug that one into the old, i can't add anything onto it (both are macbook pros).

Hmm. Only other thing I can think of is make sure the external drive is formatted for Mac and not for PC.
