This. TDAG is an absolutely perfect album in my opinion. The Deja and Daisy Are Raging for 2nd place in my book.

 

Though I am messed up, no distress
I fall asleep holding onto hopes for news about LP5 in the next few months

 

My issue with Daisy is mostly that they stopped trying with most of the lyrics.

 

has some bad moments lyrically. Don't mind them as much as some other people did though

 

There are some amazing moments lyrically on Daisy.

 

Don't think the bad lyrical moments on Daisy are as bad as they're made out to be, not to mention this time around since the lyrics were written half by Vin, it seems understandable that he wouldn't be as practiced at it. But still, even with such a thing that could have weighed them down more, I think for the most part the lyrics on Daisy are strong. What I would criticize as occasionally heavy handed works better imo bc it's matched by this music that is incredibly dense and not giving itself up easily. And even the heaviest handed lyric is like still interestingly written in that they're p strange metaphors a lot of the time. It's almost unhinged.

 

Lets not act like there arent bad lyrics on TDAG

 

The only song I can think of with bad lyrics is Handcuffs, and the common denominator there with Daisy seems to be Vin.

Daisy is tied with YFW for my least favorite....at least the nostalgic and adolescent me can relate to some of those lyrics. The lyrics on Daisy, even when I know what they're going for, just make me go "huh?". Combine the bad lyrics with the wall of noise a lot of the songs are and it's just not my type of music generally.

 

There are some not great lyrics sprinkled throughout most of their albums, usually really noticeable bc they're juxtaposed with great ones. Daisy is not special in that regard and it is not heightened on that album because Vin is writing. Truly it is not. I'm willing to go track by track on this. If it's not your thing because of the style, alright, cool. But there wasn't a dip in quality of the lyrics, at the very least not a dramatic one.
