Master of not knowing what the hell I'm doing.

I always remember the comments on a particular TDAG review on AP back in the day just laying into Degausser, particularly on the lyrics and saying how the band should never write together as a group again and just leave it all to Jesse. I literally have no idea how they could come to that conclusion...

Did anyone ever find out the location of the explosions in Limousine too?

The first one is during the word "signal". There are a few throughout the ending that are easier to pick up on once you know what you're looking for.

It's pretty low and blends in the mix so it's not super easy to hear but it's there. I'd love to hear the original mix that Jesse talked about where it was over powering the whole track haha

mind pointing to another example? around 'signal' i hear the cymbals crash and some feedback but i can't make out anything that i would consider an explosion

It's prominent at the end after he gets to the end of the "seven loves you so much" Just follow the bass hits. Get to know the sound of that and then when you hear one that's lower pitched that's the explosion. You can hear the rippling echo sound (I don't know how to explain the noise an explosion makes after initial boom) more than the actual explosion because the explosions are surrounded by drums. It kinda sounds similar to the guitar effect but it's lower pitched.

The first one is easiest to hear because the song's not as loud at that point yet.

    2009: Daisy is released.

2010: Vague interviews about the future of the band, definitely no new music coming.

2011: Still too soon for music, but they're still playing shows, so they still exist.

2012: YES! They booked studio time for April! Something might be happening.

2013: Hmmm. Well, it seems likely that they might do something soon. Something something Shone (I wasn't paying much attention these few years).

2014: Band is officially telling us they're in the studio! Definitely getting something this year.

2015: Nothing happened last year, but they've begun this weird "viral" thing and... OMG! NEW SONG! Feels like there's an album coming this year! Oh 2006 demos. That's really cool though.

2016: Band tells us we are getting an album this year! Finally! So excited that they would come right out and tell us about it. OMG! NEW SONG! Oh, they're probably disbanding in 2018, at least they'll have this new album to tour on for a year or two. Oh, it's getting mighty late in the year now, been a few months since that new song. Reworked demos. I like this. Oh, they decided not to release an album this year after all. Kevin360 finally decides to kill any and all expectations for a new album and the cycle finally burns through his enthusiasm.

2017: Kevin360 continues to diversify music taste and listen to new bands. But maybe...

Got so excited to see I had an e-mail from Procrastinate! Music Traitors only to see it was a recap of albums released in 2016, which as we all know, didn't include LP5. Was at least hoping for a 'looking forward to 2017' type of e-mail, but nah.

This is the same year ESPN ranked Mean Everything to Nothing as the best album of 2009. It's the only time I ever saw ESPN rank albums. Probably the same guy.

Wasn't he from KC? I know he trash talked my alma mater. Manchester put him on the guest list when they played there. I would explain how I know but it would come off like a humble brag. Haha.

Hate to bring up Shone again, but I just realized that Vin and his brother were probably going for this Frank Zappa-esque wacky af inspired side project. Just recently tried diving into some old experimental prog stuff and could see them being influenced by Frank's bizzare and humorous music. Mike Sapone also references and tags Frank Zappa related shit on the gram and the song title Baby Shakes might be a nod to the song Baby Snakes

I looked it up and it looks like he was from the area. Would be weird to see a nearly 7 foot basketball player loping around a MO show.

I was under the impression that Vin had nothing to do with Shone besides playing lead for their live shows. IIRC, Shone was 100% Brian Lane. He planned on recruiting a different singer for each song, but was so impressed with Andrew's delivery that he allowed Andrew to do the whole thing. I wish he would have gone with his original idea...would have been pretty cool to hear some of his friends (maybe Jesse, Andy Hull, Aaron Weiss, KD?) sing on/help workshop some of those songs. Probably would have been better received, too.

Edit: I didn't mean for that to be my takeaway from your post. I don't disagree with your Zappa theory and that Baby Snakes/Shakes connection is a good find.

Never heard this before. Source? I assumed it was 90% Andrew. It's not very drum focused and the whole Levi thing would make even less sense if there wasn't a consistent singer. I'm having a really hard time considering the idea that it was 100% Brian
