Sometimes I think excitedly of future adult moments I may experience, even though I'm already thirty-one. Like, telling my children for the first time that nothing happens when you die. Sigh.

It's happened twice. First time my mom had gotten my sister a horse for Christmas and not told me, and I ran outside at full sprint to get on the trampoline and got blindsided by a scared goddamn horse. Surprise ruined.

Second time was at the stables we visited at the time and I was riding around on my mom's horse. The owner of the stables got the bright idea to set off a firecracker which caused the horse to get terrified, buck me off, and trample me. If people don't believe in "mom strength", I promise it's real cuz my mom tossed an entire horse off me. Since that day I haven't ridden one.

It sounds like I was spoiled when I tell these stories or that my family was rich but those were irrational purchases that sent my mom into debt and ended in me eating ramen for 6 years straight so I promise we weren't just spoiled rotten.

Everytime I've ever been bucked off of a horse it was because we ran up on a snake. So not only do you try not to get trampled but you try not to get bitten either lol

Weirdly I've had much more positive experiences with snakes than horses

I've only been horseback riding once, and he was insanely stubborn. But I enjoyed it.

I "pet sat" some horses, once. Also enjoyed that. One of them was enamoured with me.

I don't mind snakes. I wouldn't want to, like, be locked in a very small space with one, but I feel reasonably confident in my size advantage. Horses are the best and as soon as I'm working up closer to my house, I'm finding a local stable for lessons.

I'd really love to ride a horse but I'm absolutely terrified of them since they spook so easily

They're like big dogs! They're very sensitive, so many times they'll get spooked because they sense the rider's discomfort/nerves. The more calm and confident you are, the calmer they stay.

So I'm a supervisor at an armored truck company and mostly work by myself on reports and such. But every morning all the drivers are in the big garage loading their trucks and getting ready to go. Most are ex-military or young guys who want to be cops and work here in the meantime because they can carry guns. They're all "manly men" and strict in their gender roles, so i tend to keep to myself because we fundamentally disagree on everything. Today they are out there arguing about "I could never date or marry a woman who likes sports let alone knows more than me." They then had some really kind homophobic slurs for women that likes sports. I said something but it doesn't ever sink in and they always laugh because I'm "too sensitive." I hate this job most days.

I don't want to get married. It felt funny last year when we were campaigning for same sex marriage here in Ireland it's probably the thing I've felt and worked most about in my whole life, yet I knew I never wanted to be married.

I can't stand that shit. One guy in my classes said something about how "strippers aren't real people" one day and I nearly lost my shit.

My parents were 18 and 23 when they married and then 23 and 28 when they had me. My sister came at 26 and 31. So I should have a family already lol
