This is the year we get to the holy grail of the quarter finals. Munich in the last 16, Madrid in the quarters and then knocked out by Benfica in the semi final on away goals. Good old Arsenal.

TBH I wouldn't have been upset had we drawn Madrid. Anything other than Bayern at this stage. It's just so boring.

Winning our group for the first time in 4 years, to try get an easier match up in the round of last 16 after going out in that round for the last six years. Then we get Bayern Munich the one year they don't win their group.

    The definition of banter.

I think this does prove that the new seeding system for the group stages is a great move.

Arsenal/PSG, Dortmund/Real, Atletico/Bayern, Barcelona/City are unlikely to have happened under the previous system and it's likely all but Dortmund would be first seeds. And because of this you have great teams like PSG/Real/Bayern/City going through in second place, creating some great ties.

I know it had its critics due to teams like Benfica/Zenit being "weaker" league winners, but I think it's 100% improved the group stages, and I've found myself watching a match on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Gary Neville is a great pundit who who in my opinion has no agenda against any team. Karius is just a crap keeper.

  8. Looking back at the game yesterday, I'm not sure what Poch was doing with his subs. He took off Son fairly early when he was one of the few guys getting shots off and creating chances. He was also causing problems wide. And then he took off Dembele who was probably our best player overall throughout the game. He was constantly advancing the ball into the final third. It was obvious United couldn't handle him. I did like Sissoko coming in, but not for Son. It should've been for Dele who was struggling.

Overall, United was the obvious better team yesterday. Their attacking players are starting to gel and it's definitely a fun watch. Darmian was really struggling though. I expected more from him. Sissoko was abusing him.

Darmian is one of the worst right backs in the league. When he's at left back, he's in the running for worst full back in the league. The guy is as good as gone once Shaw is out of the dog house and playing to his potential.

  10. The CL draw looks fun. I'm excited for Real/Napoli and Atletico/Leverkusen.

Darmian is woeful. His first 5 or 6 games he was great then got Louis'd and hasn't come back.

  12. It was hilarious watching Sissoko bent over with hands on knees breathing heavy after being out there for 5 minutes.

Darmian is my 4th choice (out of 5) LB.

    Shaw has to be hurt

Interesting that FCD left Seitz unprotected for the expansion draft. I guess both Minnesota and Atlanta have good keepers?

Atlanta's going in for Guzan apparently

  19. Well this was perfectly set up for the bantz

  20. Turns out Dembele has a foot injury and that's why he was subbed off.

    That dude can't stay healthy.

I hope that with Minnesota's first pick in the expansion draft they choose to bow out of MLS

It'd make sense as they acquired and traded Sean Johnson pretty quickly.

Not a terribly great upgrade from Saunders for NYCFC, but at least they won't lose 7-1 in the playoffs
