I thought the same. I also realised I know way more Biffy songs than I thought I did.

 

They're the best live band in the UK I think. Certainly the best at this size of venues.

 

Yeah they are without a doubt. That's even without them playing two of their biggest hits.

 

Which two big hits are they not doing?

 

Saturday Superhouse and Who's Got A Match?. I know the former has been out the set for a while but the latter was a surprise.

 

Ah yeah! The sets have basically pretty barren with stuff pre-Only Revolutions right?

 

They're playing justboy though and that makes it fine :)

They've been playing the same set most nights recently, it has 4 from puzzle, 1 from infinity land and then Justboy from blackened sky.

 

I think with "shinier" (or whatever term you want) production, 57 and Justboy would be massive hits for them today.

For sure, I'd throw questions and answers into the mix as well. All those songs have hooks for days.

 

I still need to listen to the new record before my EOTY list. Can't believe I'm behind on this one.. how is it/how's it held up??

 

I like it! It's not quite the departure they promised, and there are a few stinkers, but there are a handful of absolutely classic songs on there that I know are going to sound brilliant live.


I think they've lost that little tiny spark that made them an absolutely unbelievable band a few years ago, but they're still better than 99% of other bands.

 

The only song from the new album I can complain about is little wishes, and even then I can see them trying to do something different and it just backfiring really. On A Bang, People and Animal Style in particular are really great songs.

 

I prefer Little Wishes to their more generic mid tempo ones like Re Arrange, but yeah the louder moments on the new album are the best.

 

For me it's a complete mis-fire, especially given it's placement between On A Bang and Howl where it just seems to lose momentum. I actually like Rearrange a lot- don't really get to hear Simon use his falsetto much and the poppier ballad route on it makes it stand out a little.

On A Bang is such a good live song. Some of their songs I've written off a little (Biblical) sound enormous live too. I'm not a huge Biffy fans although I knew most of the setlist but they're a brilliant live act and we'll worthy of their festival headliner status. No idea why they're so small in the states.

 

I'm the man responsible for editing this together and I'd like to sincerely apologize to anyone who actually spent 4 perfectly good minutes of their day listening to it.

Made me laugh pretty hard the first time I put the "YEAH" sample in there.

 

where'd you get the stems?

 

There was a post on /r/brandnew ages ago. I believe the stems were ripped from Guitar Hero.

 

Can't wait to see these and Biffy tonight. I'm gonna get hammered and sing as loudly as I can to Biblical.

Standing in line and hearing brand new soundchecking is so frustrating...
