Assigning a number is wack anyways. If you enjoy it, that's all that matters

Frightened Rabbbit, Friends in America, There Will be Fireworks, The Tallest Man On Earth and Bon Iver (x2) have released 10/10 records this decade.

    First or second TWBF?

Well obviously the main goal is to enjoy it. But it's okay to like an album more than an other. That's all we are doing.

Second. I like the first TWBF a lot, but the second is subline.

    First is "just" a 9/10

Ahh, I think I'm more fond of the first overall although "River" is easily my favourite song by them. That song is insane. I love both albums though and really want a third.

I was in Osaka during the new year 2013, and at like 6am I was supposedly taking the train back from Osaka to Kyoto, which is where I was staying. Of course, I fell asleep in the train, and woke up with my headphones on when " River" kicked in, in the absolute middle of nowhere in the Japanese countryside.

It's fantastic. At least honorable mentions for me, maybe higher.

Would have expected to see ABRA here, tbh.

Yeah I know, I meant if an album truly touches you it shouldn't matter if it's an 8 or 9 idk how to explain how I'm feeling haha

Yes but how will show people how much I enjoy something in relation to all the other things I enjoy?

Oh okay, I see what you're saying now. If it's good enough to make your EOTY list, then stressing out over placement of an album within a few slots shouldn't matter.

    hmmm

I do sort of agree with you but I would also add that how a person is feeling is the biggest factor in whatever numerical rating they ascribe to an album. I don't think you can separate them.

Waiting on the Old Gray album before I solidify my list but the number one spot hasn't changed since February. Cardinal by Pinegrove is untouchable.

Proud to say I haven't thought about numerical ratings for albums since my last AbsolutePunk review!

I don't assign numerical ratings to albums, but I love plenty of albums I'd call an 8 or 9. I have no idea how I'd even decide on records that deserve a 10/10. It just seems arbitrary and judging an albums value that way is useless to me.

I rank pretty much all albums and songs by numbers. I just think better in terms of numbers, ha.

After listening to over 1,000 releases from 2016 I've added my favorite 50 albums to my original post.

Also added a handful of honorable mentions and my favorite EPs from the year.

  23. You and I have discussed them at length, but not the new album. Possibly my least favorite album of theirs, but easily good enough for my top 50, hahaha

  24. Congratulations on probably having the most albums I've never heard of

  25. 2013 is my favorite year of all time for music. So many albums from that year have stuck with me as all-time favorites that I still spin regularly.
