I don't know man, I feel like with true musicians like John, it isn't necessarily what you CAN play but what you CHOOSE to play. Sometimes simplicity can invoke the perfect tone for a song. Just my thoughts though. I dig the song.

Been waiting for new John Mayer for quite some time now. I dig this, sounds like the earlier albums, though I really enjoyed Born and Raised and Paradise Valley too. Stoked for this album!!

Didn't like his Americana experiment at all, this I dig.

Exactly! Just because it's simple doesn't mean it's stupid.

I haven't listened yet, but man is his guitar tone always top notch. I'm excited for that alone.

is it the same for you? Prestigious

this feels like a battle studies b-side. or like he's covering a taylor swift song.

i don't think i'm ever going to outright dislike something he puts out, but this is definitely the least excited i've been after listening to one of his lead singles. the lyrics really aren't hitting for me at all. still anticipating loving the album.

At first listen I thought of "Home Life" and that this song would fit perfectly into Heavier Things. I am liking it

Agree with above, heard this and thought 'Heavier Things' straight off. Such a good song, and a perfect way to kick off a Friday.

I love the sound of it. Lyrics I could critique a bit. But love the guitar tone and flow of it. And voice is always a+

I dig it. Almost had a Ryan Adams self titled quality to it, only poppier.
Those instagram clips def get me excited for something funky though.

This song is so John Mayer-y. I just love it. Don't fix what ain't broken.

On a side-note, I like everything John Mayer has put out. But his odd-numbered albums (Room for Squares, Continuum, and Born & Raised) have all been next-level fantastic. I'm going to just assume he follows that trend with record #7.

Wonderful. I agree with whoever said that it gives them "Battle Studies" vibes. I felt that immediately. Even though this song is catchy it doesn't ring false to me - it's just some really great songwriting. I love having John back!

Man, I agree with this so much. I've liked everything he's put out... but those three you mentioned really hit the spot like no other.

Battle Studies' John Mayer is my favorite (so many memories attached to my early high school years...), so of course I love this.
