Watched The Man Behind The Curtain and the the cabin scene with Jacob is so hokey I love. Can’t wait to finally show the gf the final 3 episodes so I can finally talk about it not being Pennys boat. She’s going to cry her eyes out, she loves Charlie

I often think back to that scene with Desmond and Charlie in the boat right before he dives into the water. Really beautiful

wrapped up s5 last night, on the whole I think the weakest season so far but enough good stuff to get me through. the whole arc with them stranded in the DHARMA time period felt weirdly filler-y and like they weren't sure what all the characters could do? poor Sayid, Hurley and Jin basically do nothing for half a season until the finale and they really fast forwarded through Sawyer's arc by going "hey it's been 3 years, he's grown up a bit" lol

stuff I liked, the Jacob appearance was really cool and gave you just enough of him to answer some questions without losing the mystery of what his deal is. the Locke twist also really blindsided me, genuinely creepy and unexpected stuff. Terry played that dual role so fucking well and seeing him manipulate Ben instead of the other way around for once was crazy. justice for my man Faraday too, that episode was so good but it sucks to lose such an interesting character. this show just keeps one upping with the tragic deaths, the implications of Eloise knowing his whole life that she would kill him are so fucked up lmao

the amount of great actors this show attracts is wild. Hiroyuki Sanada and John Hawkes just rocking up outta nowhere in s6

ok the reveal that the numbers correspond to the surviving candidates is actually really cool. it doesn't fully explain the power the numbers have but it's enough of a full circle moment from s1 to be satisfying

the one thing I'm really finding unconvincing this season is Claire being the new Rousseau, in theory it kinda works but the acting is just very bad. some of the worst on the show so far

The numbers lore going beyond the show is cool. I went down rabbit holes learning about the Valenzetti Equation and such

this show is great at putting a fantastic episode in right when things are slowing down a bit and hooking you right back in. specifically Ab Aeterna which was maybe one of the best episodes of the show so far. I waited so long for some Richard backstory and it was so goddamn worth it! although I am a bit confused about the logistics of a tiny wooden boat getting lifted like a hundred feet in the air and smashing a huge stone statue to bits while remaining mostly intact itself lmao

kind of a shame Titus Welliver only plays MIB in the past because he's phenomenal in that role, he's such a great villain either way. I love how most of the conflict in this show is basically just two dudes with massive egos who can't get along (Jacob and MIB, Jack and Locke, Ben and Widmore)

Ilana's death is so goofy lmao, wild they kept her around for 2 seasons to go out like that. very silly stuff

makes me nervous for Lapidus too, he's awesome but he's also done basically nothing since being introduced. hope they don't blow up my man too

(can't believe I'm almost finished the show lol, trying to make it last but it's really picking up in the last third of the season)

It sucks because this is the point where setting an endpoint in stone started to backfire on them.

They ran out of time to cleanly wrap up everything they wanted to wrap up, and this is one of the more egregious examples.

From what I remember, Ilana was originally supposed to be revealed as Jacob's daughter, but that never ended up happening.

Since they had an endpoint in mind, I don’t understand why season 6 meanders so much. I felt like they could have used the time to do some more interesting stuff. Rewatched it recently and the season really lags until the last few episodes imo (and even then you still have to contend with “Across the Sea”, the worst episode of the entire show). Seasons 1-5 are basically perfect to me, it’s only season 6 that I have major problems with. The writers really did not know what to do with Sayid lol. Although I did enjoy the flash-sideways stuff more this time around and I’ve always loved the ending.

yeah Ilana feels like a really obvious case of them running out of time to get to her backstory, a lot like Libby and Charlotte. at least Libby got that really sweet picnic scene with Hurley in the alternate timeline as some kind of closure, the other two got basically nothing

I think this season is a lot stronger than the previous one but yeah I do agree Sayid is getting done super dirty so far, dude was the best character for most of the show and now he's a zombie

To be fair, Libby was more due to Cynthia Watros not wanting to return for the longest time.

And I like Across The Sea. Fuck the haters.

Yeah not a chance Across the Sea is the worst of the series.

I like Across the Sea as well. That said S6 is my least fav- the temple stuff and Sayid’s story feels like wasted potential. I personally loooved s5.

The tattoo episode never upset me too much. The flashback is astonishingly weak but the on-island stuff is decent.

alright so I'm in the final stretch now. I was expecting some kind of big blowout before the end would be basically inevitable but man losing Sun, Jin, Sayid and Lapidus in the space of a few minutes was insane. it happens so fast (and in such a frustrating way, this show really likes drowning people huh) you almost don't have time to register that there's barely any main characters left anymore. they really were on a time crunch huh

as for Across the Sea, I... mostly liked it? think it having the feel of a fable helps smooth over some of the rough patches but they are definitely there (I rolled my eyes so hard when the mother said she only came up with one name for a kid, like did Jacob just say "hey guy" to get his brother's attention for 200 years? very silly lmao). I feel like I maybe would've received it even better if it didn't come 6 episodes after Aeterna, which had a very similar feel but was a way stronger episode
