That's my mom's favorite LP song, so at least you have some company on that hill

aw man, that's one of my favorites on the album!

  3. I used to dislike "The Messenger" but it's grown on me. It's more the raw take and loud vocal mixing that bothers me still to this day than the song itself as I can't help but slightly turn it down during the high notes.

I like the intent, but the execution - they needed another pass at it and a better mix.

I think "Cut the Bridge" is a fine enough song, but the production irks me. It sounds...unfinished and flat? It's strange.

The last time I listened to the album, I let it play through and liked it as an epilogue more than I used to. But, I used to hate and ignore it, and it’s still the weak point to the album; I don’t mind considering “The Catalyst” the closer, lol.

I think for the "story" of A Thousand Suns, you need The Messenger as the last song. Chester definitely oversings it on the album (always preferred the live versions where he would sing it in a way lower key), but it's always felt right as the closer to me

The vocal track of the messenger is pretty jarring.

I've never been huge on that one myself but I wouldn't say it's bad at all. don't think anything from the first 2 albums should even be in the conversation about their worst songs haha

If I was surrounded by such beauty in Iceland i'd be blasting Sigur Ros on repeat.

See I'd put those 2 pretty solidly in my bottom 3 albums from LP. Truly a range of tastes in this thread

I finally got around to checking this out and I think it's good but not great. It almost feels like an intentional tone setter for the future of the band; they kind of played it "safe" here with sounds they know will work for them to ease people into the idea of LP continuing with Emily instead, which I think was a good idea. I'm also guessing this is the reason the album is so short. Knowing Mike, the next album will probably sound nothing like this

Speaking of Emily, I know she's controversial (for good reason) but purely from a musical/vocal standpoint, she honestly kills this whole album. I can definitely see why they picked her, she is an amazing vocalist

Favorites so far are Emptiness Machine, Heavy is the Crown, Casualty and Two Faced. I also like Cut the Bridge lol

respectfully I think the range there might be your opinion and then just... everybody else's haha. I don't know a single other person with HT or Meteora in their bottom 3

I know a lot of people with that take. Also know a lot of people with Meteora as their #1. Hell, One More Light is one of my best friend's favorite albums period. People are all over the place
