It feels like a fake show on 30 Rock and an snl cast member hosting it makes it even more 30 rock

 

Ooooh. I was thinking they meant the SHOW 30 Rock. That sentence hurt my brain, the way she typed it out. Haha.

Saw Les Mis at Pantages earlier this year and the guy next to me was conducting and singing along and I damn near through him off the balcony

Seriously though, the Rock’s point is the same point that proves he’s not correct. Everyone has paid for the experience. That doesn’t allow you to do something that will ruin everyone else’s. I’m paying to hear professionals sing, not the girl who was Glinda in her theater camp’s performance of Popular

 

My friend I saw Wicked with last night wondered going into it if people would sing, to which I said, I hope not. I definitely heard her softly singing along to “Defying Gravity” or whatever it’s called at the end, lol.

I’ve never been to one of those screenings where you’re expected to sing along. I bet those are fun. But, as much as I’m more pro what I’d call audience engagement than most here often are… full on singing along to a standard film release is a bit much! Like, read the room, y’know.

 

It's bad enough at concerts

 

The audience, as far as I know, doesn't even sing at Broadway shows. Like, Dwayne's been going too heavy on that Teremana with that dumbass thought.

 

Not without getting glared at

 

Every time I see footage of a Taylor Swift concert it is just young girls screaming the lyrics. For those prices I would not be happy.

 

Its good that the neighbourhood gets a break from them screaming the lyrics at home.

 

Screaming lyrics especially bothers me when the song isn’t being sung that way. Like when I’ve seen Billie Eilish sing in essentially a whisper while her crowd shrieks the lyrics at the top of their lungs

 

I saw Billie years ago and don't remember that being an issue. Maybe just in general concert etiquette has gone down post covid

 

Concert etiquette is basically non-existent. There are times the audience is so loud I can hear it in my in-ears. It’s incredibly disheartening and disrespectful. There’s no respect for performers of any discipline anymore

 

I've gotten lucky for the most part but it sucks to be anxious about it, like I've somehow saw Ethel Cain open for Caroline Polachek with a normal crowd, and Julien post boygenius too
