For those channels, it isn't a content problem. New standup specials aren't on there because they wouldn't get a fraction of the audience that is available through streaming.

Subscription TV was a dominant part of culture for so long that it would have been really hard to convince these older corporate executives to pivot to these things they don't fully understand. The people on these boards still call their grandkids when the WiFi isn't working but they had TV when they were kids so it becomes inevitable.

There were goths girls on the bus tonight who were against "soft parenting".

The worst part of travelling is that while you are doing it everyone you meet asks about your trip and that's fine, then when you come home everyone wants to hear about your trip but you're already sick of talking about it and you're forced to persevere and tell them how great it was because any other response will produce an even more annoying conversation with them being needlessly sympathetic because they think you had a bad trip.

Forget if it was this thread or the other one where the discussion about movie theater etiquette was going on

To be fair, Wicked draws in adult theater kids, some of the worst types of people to spend time with.

One of the best things about going to the movies for me is that it’s an excuse not to talk to anyone and ignore my phone for 2+ hours.

Lady sitting next to me in Wicked was on her phone playing games half the movie. In my experience it's not even kids that don't know any better, it's always like an 60 year old adult. But yeah, it feels like we've lost the battle, especially now that most theaters have huge recliners, people feel more and more that it's their living room.

Anyway, my hot take is that this movie is actually a pretty damn good action thriller with some really fun set pieces, a great main cast, and a ton of awesome character actors supporting.

I basically punished my group chat about Costa Rica while I was in Costa Rica so when I got back home they didn’t really ask me anything they already knew the highlights.
