TFW when your watching a brand new disc and it starts erroring out and you take it out of the drive only to see no marks or scratches of any kind.

that's happened to me a couple times, either due to a layer switching issue with a larger capacity disc or faulty manufacturing (i.e. despite having no scratches, my 4K copy of The Force Awakens skipped like 5 seconds in the middle of the film every time before i replaced it)

I definitely had that layer issue a ton when I was using whatever the in-vogue Sony 4K player is, but the only discs I've run into with issues with the Panasonic was Back to the Future and now Creepshow. I'll probably switch to the Blu-ray to finish it

ugh i'm sorry. yeah, the Sony player is the only one i can afford. it works well the vast majority of the time, but really doesn't like it when the director's cut of Midsommar hits about an hour in.

Was really hoping to get the Happiness 4K during the Criterion sale but it sold out in 5 minutes so I settled on the standard Blu-ray and the Albert Brooks and Long Good Friday 4Ks

Also got me a 50 dollar site credit so can't complain

Didn't know anything about In a Violent Nature but then Alex Ross Perry pitched it as watching the slasher do all the things between killings and I'm so curious to check it out now.

It’s like art house Friday The 13th, I genuinely recommend it.

yup. they announced a while back they'd limit all in-store physical media displays to big name films and shows for most of the year (save for holidays), with the rest of their stock being available online via their website. it's disappointing for sure, although i'm at least glad they didn't get rid of physical media entirely like Best Buy did.

  13. Is it seasonal or are they doing like Best Buy?

it's year round save for holidays, where they'd stock more for buyers potentially looking for Blu-rays and DVDs at some slight seasonal discount. it's stupid and not ideal, but again, it's not entirely gone since they still have an online presence.
