Pod Save America just had some substack writer on who basically said "remember in 2008 when democrats got racists who openly called Obama the n word to vote for him? those types of people might make us feel uncomfortable, but those are the types of people we need in our big tent for a sweeping win. We can't win over the racist obama voters now because of how scoldy progressive culture has become"

These guys are making all the wrong assumptions. It isn't "oh we need to actively adjust our messaging on cultural issues to not make racists/transphobes who might vote Democrat feel scolded so we can include them in the tent", it is " if you offer an economic platform and message that they believe can help their material conditions, the people with reactionary cultural views will vote for you regardless of what your stance on culture war stuff is"
