Was just coming to post about that song, but it's way more Chino Moreno than Loathe.

Yeah, can’t say I’m super familiar with that Loathe song, but her vocals in that track definitely reminded me of Chino and musically it went some similar places to what he’s done with Crosses on their last few releases.

I got some slight Fightstar vibes on some of that one and they're huge Deftones fans so this tracks haha.

    Yea this album fucks

There are a number of times on the album that a melody she sings reminds me of another song that I can't quite put my finger on, but they're all good melodies so I can't complain. It's too bad this album is probably gonna get a bit overshadowed by a certain rock band's return album but Poppy really brought the goods here!

  12. have you had enough, crystallized, push go, negative spaces... this thing is packed with huge hooks holy hell!! The Vein.fm/Norma Jean vibes on the center's falling out are everything as well. Already the most I clicked with an album since I Disagree

Whoa, this is cool. I kind of checked out on everything post-I Disagree, am I to understand she hasn't really been this heavy on her releases between I Disagree and this one?

go listen to Eat. it's a heavier release that came after I Disagree and felt less like a gimmick and more like a sound she wanted to explore long-term. the closing track on Flux also had some combined screaming from her and George Clarke from Deafheaven.

  16. This EP was pretty heavy as well.

The other releases ranged from grungy rock, industrial influenced electropop and everything inbetween but still have aggressive moments here and there as well.

appreciate it, I'll peep those after I get a feel for this one. Jordan Fish is starting to become a little bit of a savant for catchy metalcore that isn't totally recycled sounding. Checking the credits, it's interesting that Zakk Cervini helped here too (Coheed - Vaxis II producer) along with Stephen Harrison from House of Protection. A lot of people involved that have made stuff I've liked in the past.

yeah, when i first heard new way out, i was concerned that having Jordan Fish here could result in some songs that felt a little too conventional, but i don't feel that at all on this record. i was also glad to hear something here that sounded like Suffocate. makes me intrigued to hear what - if anything - he's done on this new Spiritbox album.

I replayed it three times before going to the next song, haha. I would totally believe it if we found out Knocked Loose was the backing band for that song.

Surviving on Defiance is very A Sad Cartoon (gotta listen if you haven't, fantastic song) and that song is very Deftones, everyone is right.
