I just picked a good team. Feel free to swap in LSU, Ohio State, whatever. My point being division 1 college football is suuuuuuch a wider gap between the elite and the also rans.

 

sure but even then there's a gap between BC and like, Kent State

and as others have said, that gap creating the occasional incredible upset is unbeatable IMO

you don't get that in the nfl

with the ranking last night, we currently have BYU and Miami with first round byes and Boise, Indiana and Ole Miss in the playoffs, along with a bunch of the teams you'd probably expect. SMU and Kansas State are right on the outside. SMU was literally a dead program within the last decade. that rules!

 

this can be said about the chiefs and the panthers too.

 

I totally get all that and the upset part is cool. I just find it tougher to personally invest in it when there’s 10-15 elite teams and 250 or whatever punching bags

 

I also don't have a rooting interest in any specific team, like I'd root for OSU vs OU but every other week of the year who cares

If there were ever a season to get into CFB, this one is it

 

i went to a tiny school for undergrad and a school that is most years, at best, in the middle of their conference for law school. i have a team I like more than them but there's no personal connection there other than one I chose to adopt for no reason. this isn't because I bleed blue for Michigan or what the fuck ever. i just don't really get how you can watch a great matchup in college and think it's inferior to a great matchup in the pros, all while there are the outside additional thinks like rivalries and weird upsets to also hang your hat on like we've been discussing

in that order (SFA is irrelevant in the scheme of things but I like when they do well or have a player drafted)

 

also because i love drama there are just way more personalities in cfb than the NFL. idk if it's not wanting to mess sponsorship money up or whatever weird "professional decorum" there is attached but people like mike gundy, saban rip and deion are entertaining as hell and you just don't get that in the pros.

probably more due to a "king on campus" thing than anything else but still

 

I simply do not care about college football and will continue to not care about college football no matter how hard someone tries to sell me on it!

 

it's probably dumb but admittedly, having the new college football game this year has made me more interested in it too

I don’t think it’s inferior personally. I’ve def tuned in to a CFB game that’s trending on twitter or something and had fun with it. It’s just not something I’ve ever found myself really investing time into like I do the NFL or NBA, despite trying multiple times.

yeah playing as coastal in my dynasty league with my friends has me watching some of their games and getting frustrated about how they aren't using ethan vasko correctly
