I will continue to wonder what would have happened with running a Democratic candidate not tied to the current administration. How much was this a rejection of the administration or the party as a whole. Feel like with some of the Senate results we have seen it wouldn’t have mattered but wonder if you could have eeked out an Electoral win.

 

I know things weren’t good before, but I am truly terrified for the human race. I think this is going to be the catalyst that sends us to our extinction much faster than predicted.

How can I become one of those people who are oblivious to the world around them and tune it all out cause I don’t think I’ve got it in me again

I’ll contend that it wouldn’t have mattered if they were leashed by the same consultants and party leaders that shut up Walz and did the Cheney rehab tour. It’s the messaging and the vision and the policies that lost, not the candidate. They provided nothing but orange man bad to voters who have been feeling like they are worse off than they were 5 years ago and dems said “no you’re not, read a fucking chart, moron” and that was that.

 

I think we’ve moved past a VP pick having any substantial influence on who wins a ticket. Maybeee if he’s a highly popular leader in a swing state that you absolutely need to win, but you know. There was some baggage there.

One of the top issues being “democracy” and you tell people “democracy is on the line! We cannot allow the republicans to win!” in one breath and then immediately turn and say “I will put a republican in my cabinet. There are a lot of commonalities between us actually” then yeah, what the fuck is a voter in Georgia or Pennsylvania supposed to do with that??

 

Democratic party is way too big and too institutionally poisoned for grassroots progressive takeover to work. However I think with the Green Party, you have 150k-250k former Bernie supporting leftists suddenly join, we own that party now.

im with you. i dont have the fight in me anymore. ive removed myself entirely of social media except an insta I use to follow bands and local promoters for show announcements.

i found ways to disconnect last Trump presidency, namely hiking, video games, reading, etc.

it’s sad to feel defeated but honestly what other feeling is there today.

If that messaging from the Trump campaign was that effective, I don't think countering it with actually immigration is okay right now and we're not gonna do anything to address it would have worked, TBH. They certainly should have pushed different policy and explained better how thigns like DACA work and etc, but as we're learning all the time now it seems, it doesn't matter how well you explain something. It's all vibes and fear.
