I still think it is wildly offensive to treat genocide in Gaza like "any other issue." To prioritize genocide less than other issues because it effects you personally less is a political failing in a way that is not true for other issues. Genocide is the worst of crimes against humanity, everyone agrees with this.

I wish people would imagine their words in the context of the Nazi holocaust. What I mean is, imagine this exact race except the genocide we are arguing about is not of Gazans but of Jews, Romani, Slavs, communists, queer people, and disabled people. Everything else is the same, the domestic issues are the same, the candidates are the same, the electoral map is the same. But it's the Nazi holocaust happening instead.

Would you be saying the same things? Would you be telling people to vote for Kamala? Genuinely. Everyone got mad at me before for this but actually would you? No one actually answered this question at the time.

 

Talking about the current genocide in comparison to the Jewish genocide during WWII makes me think the uncomfortable thought that American involvement in WWII was only because Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and if Japan hadn't attacked then America would've stayed out of it. We have always been an incredibly selfish nation.

also Nazis got their ideology from Americans. pretty well documented

US only stepped in because the Soviets would've had complete control of Europe if they took down the Nazis without British support. afterward we rewrote this into a hero narrative. ending German fascism was just a byproduct of cutting off European communism
