Yeah, Veilguard's not really doing it for me which isn't surprising. Dragon Age just isn't for me anymore. I already knew that after Inquisition but it's really apparent now. Oh well. You can't have it all.

 

Still playing through Outlaws since I wasn’t able to play much for about three weeks because of travel and a hurricane lol. But I’m thinking about picking up Dragon Age. I still want to get LiS but I’ll probably wait for a price drop, I haven’t quite decided yet though.

Veilguard might be in my top 5 games I've played all year. Granted I haven't played as many 2024 releases as I was working on finishing my backlog but I'd easily place it in top 5.

I think the writing in veilguard is mostly really good. not always, but it’s not nearly as bad or as toothless as people make it out to be. The voice acting is ridiculously good imo. All the companions so far are extremely compelling and I’m excited to dive into their stories more through their quests. I just constantly feel like I’m playing a completely different game than the naysayers. Like there’s a clip in a certain review showing rook picking an option that says “listen to me idiot” and when you respond rook doesn’t say idiot and his line is pretty soft and the review ends the clip there. If the clip had kept rolling you’d see two following lines where he insults the first warden in a way even worse than calling him an idiot. There is also definitely friction between party members (put lace and lucanis in your party), I’ve even see someone say a party member left their game but haven’t verified that yet. Idk, some criticisms are valid but when so many of the ones I’ve seen just seem like flat out lies to me it’s hard to take any of the more harsh criticism seriously.


One thing I’m a little more on the fence about is the inability to make rook evil. Given the background of the story and the context surrounding it I don’t think varric would recruit someone for this job that would turn out to be evil. And you never really could make Hawke or inquisitor evil so it’s not exclusive to rook. But I do kinda wanna go do a really evil run of bg3 after this just for shits and giggles.

This this this. BG3 was phenomenal in letting us play around with whatever morality we wanted. Spoiled us even. Veilguard ISN'T BG3 and I think it's somewhat people fault for expecting that same experience. Because as you said, for story reasons, it would NOT make sense for us to be an evil character as evidenced as past protagonists in the franchise.

It's complaints like that where i question if this is their first DA.

Yeah I think the one on the shirt would look better because the attention to detail would allow it to look better. Like the original logo is just so.....basic and plain and doesn't allow for any expression. The shirt logo being dirtier also allows it to grow from what could be a simple small tattoo to being a fully detailed arm piece, taking up your entire arm if you wanted. I think it it'd look super cool.

 

Oh yeah I was super snarky the first time and got the "you traded words with solas" popup and then the next time it said "solas remembered" lol.

 

You know it's a good game when you don't wanna go out to follow through with plans you made a week ago and you wanna cancel to stay home and play it. But also duty calls. If the story is any indication looks like I'm going to Lucanis next and I'm not ready for there being TWO rogues in the group haha. (I main rogue)
