    Things have changed.

I hope Mark is doing well. They're a better band with him behind the kit.

  2. He's leaned really hard into the southern preacher/carnival barker shtick over the years, but he wasn't always like that, no.

Thanks. I did find it odd during the show but completely forgot until reading that post, haha. His singing voice sounded fine that night, but some of the WWWY videos were concerning.

    Are You Watching Closely?

Reddit is saying that photo was taken a while ago at some festival (Im assuming during this touring that Mark is not on) and to not read too much into it... That said, it's TBS and we all know how that door rotates. :/

Adam sings the songs like they're karaoke and lets the audience fill in the energy / emotion. I have never once been in the crowd and thought they sounded bad. On video, absolutely, it's not good, but when you're there, it's a whole different thing.

    this is all there is

Probably my favorite song on the album, cool to see it getting more love.

Also happy to see my man Nathan getting some screen time, but oof Mark sure is missing from an official music video

Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

I feel like the southern preacher thing started some time during the Tidal Wave & 20 year touring cycles, but it was something he did sparingly. Ever since they started playing live after Covid though, it’s really ramped up, especially when they did the Sad Summer 2023 shows.

nah hes been doing the preacher thing for a loooooooooooooong time. i honestly hardly even notice it anymore because im so used to it by now lol

the WWWY festival videos are definitely bad bad yet again, but i honestly think this band just does not give it their full go during festival performances. i've never seen them good at a festival, but i'm seeing them in a few weeks on the island and I am certain it will both rock and roll.

The first time I saw them was Projekt Rev in 2007 and Adam was doing the southern preacher schtick then. It's been a loooong time. The people saying he's drunk and talking funny at live shows are either new or have not been paying attention because he's been talking like that and doing herky-jerky movements for the vast majority of the band's history. It's his act. Do I wish he'd focus more on actually singing the songs sometimes? Yes. But none of this is new.

He’s been doing the exaggerated stage voice since at least 2007, and it seems to get more pronounced the larger the stage/crowd is. I always wrote it off as him projecting a persona he could more or less “hide” behind. Like to separate the Adam he is in his personal life/offstage with the performer on stage. It never bothered me all that much.

I can understand the wanting him to focus on singing a little more, but to be honest, I feel like if the stage antics and weird dancing had to go in order to get a better vocal performance from him, it would feel less like a Taking Back Sunday show. His whole stage act really makes it, even if it’s not for everybody. Like, a TBS show without Adam trying out weird stage acrobatics would feel lifeless.

It was recorded during the second half of the second leg of the summer tour (the videographer they mentioned was on with them from Baltimore to the end), so it is weird that he’s missing, but since they already did fight club, it’s not like they could splice random photos of mark into a single frame or anything

maybe, but a festival is going get assets like this directly from artists and their team. They would’ve given them a photo with Mark if that were in the plans, I think.

Yeah I think it was around louder now when it started. I feel like I remember him talking about issues with stuttering in the past, I wonder if it started as a way to work through that on stage

Michelle posted on Instagram, so it looks like she is in. When they did the holiday shows with tbs is what everybody (John, Michelle, Shaun, and Will plus Nathan for extra guitar) and the setlists from those nights were really good. I’ve been dying to see get the opportunity to see them live again.

  25. I hope this pushes them to return or at least John to put out more music outside of TBS. I revisited all of his non TBS stuff and it holds up very well, so obviously I'm craving more.
