Haha yeah...doesn't take much in today's social media age to get a rumor floating around....i'd be very surprised to ever see them again

 

brand new msg rumor came from pat kindlon, he spoke pretty matter of factly on both of his podcasts that it was happening early 2025. this on top of corroborated touring/festival offers from the past few years, not to mention the two private "friends and family" shows. they will be back.

Aside from the obvious reason, don’t the guys in Brand New all hate each other at this point anyways?

There's so much money being made on nostalgia tours right now

A 1 off MSG show probably sells out instantly

 

they all got together and hung out fairly recently and i think at least 1 of the others attended one of those couple of private shows that JL played the last year or so.

 

I 100% agree that it would...I guess even before the allegations came out there was always so many rumors about releases, tours, etc that made me skeptical of anything related to the band...and now post-allegations I'm even more skeptical...I have no inside info or connection to anyone who does, just my thoughts and my thoughts alone haha

however, I really hope it’s not a fest invaded by pop stans that want to talk over other artists sets.

I feel like me being a constant TikTok watcher and seeing so many nostalgia acts blow up again on TikTok I never saw them come back

Probably not. But idk if that would hinder sales at all. I wouldn’t say Have Heart or Cap’n Jazz are popular with the tiktok youth, and their reunions did just fine.

I think the success of WWWY proved that sometimes it’s not so much about bringing in a new audience as it is bringing back the old audience once they have more disposable income.

Get yourself cancelled and then a few years later you’ll get offered more money than you ever got back when you were at your height of popularity.

I mean up until now the reunion lineups were still selling out 1k-3k venues all around the world which except for 2006-2007 is as popular as they ever were.

it’s funny you say that, I’m in the emo tiktok algorithm, mixed between old and new bands and the other day I was scrolling through a few different times during the day and had multiple videos with the boy who blocked his own shot as the sound for the video and I had serious whiplash hearing it because outside of that I haven’t heard brand new except a few one offs between sets or after sets at shows

 

it’s crazy cause it’s been so long that I don’t even remember what that song sounds like

I have heard them at zero shows so far but I wonder when it’ll happen

 

From what i've seen I constantly get Brand New tik toks or more than a lot of emo bands even though I typically skip them.
