I don't understand. You're not paying to enter the drawing, right? The price is how much you're competing to pay, isn't it?

You only pay if you’re picked to buy the item. You just have to enter credit card info so they know you are actually gonna pay if you’re picked.

Oh so the price is what you’re committing to paying if picked, that makes more sense. Thanks for the clarification!

What a weird thing. I would’ve never expected something like this to exist haha

As impractical and niche as it is, it’s really beautiful as a music fan to see a huge band put this much weird thoughtful energy into anniversary merch.

Probably screened socials before picking people lol. I cynically figure this is how most contests these days work..."who's gonna give us the most exposure if we pick them."

Also worth considering that as the Billy Joel, Garth Brooks and Pink Floyd albums are 2 or 3 disc releases, each unit sold was counted as the number of discs in the release. Especially relevant during the pre-streaming eras when those albums gained almost the entirety of their certifications. So there are even fewer studio releases that have truly sold more than Dookie.

Additionally, only Cracked Rear View (94) and Come on Over (97) were released at a similar time or later than Dookie, the others have 15 to 25 years of time ahead of it. Again, making an already unbelievable achievement even more impressive. I love Back in Black and Led Zep 4, but there's something about the inclusion of Dookie here that's even more amazing - 3 of the songs are under 2 minutes, although very poppy it's still the most 'alternative' of any of those albums in terms of its content and "personality."

This album defined my music tastes when I first heard it in 1998.

    20 million, absolutely tremendous.

I feel like Pinhead Gunpowder has had a pretty specific sound that stood apart from Green Day until now, but this one sounds a lot just like Green Day b-sides

^ Agreed. There’s a comfort/ease throughout that reminds me of Green Day’s more recent stuff. Not sure if that is what I enjoy about Pinhead but I’ll try listening more.

I actually think the Pinhead album sounds like a very natural extension of the other stuff, it sounds like the same guys but having aged 20 years lol

I never thought we would get music from them again even though 3/4 of the band is in the Green Day camp, I just love Aaron Cometbus's writing

Every so often I learn about a new Billie Joe side project, and yesterday I learned about another one I had never heard of hah. I guess he formed a band with his wife and two sons, and in 2021 they released an EP for friends and family during the holidays, but also on streaming apparently:
