I’m on mobile now cuz on lunch break but do wanna say that for FFXIV it is not an in game setting to my knowledge (I could be wrong tho)

But yeah not an advantage at all but still a bad thing to charge for but also FFXIV is so allergic to making money it’s insane

 

Not everybody can have nice headphones either, if at all.

 

You have to log in THREE TIMES INCLUDING MFA to buy things from their shop

Even buying the game is a nightmare

 

The hoops you have to jump through to log on to FFXIV is truly insane, and if you forget a password good luck gotta wait weeks for customer support lol

 

It’s by far the worst part of the game

When I tried WoW again it was shocking how easy it was to pay for anything

I think a middle ground is good between those

 

WoW shop is crazy. You just hit ESC in game. Hit shop. Buy it and it just appears in your inventory.

Mogstation for XIV wants my first born and birth certificate

 

I heard it was even worse for FFXI but I never played it so can’t confirm

 

I have poured an insane amount of money to gamble for characters I never played as for a game that no longer even exists.

Maybe the hoops are good. Gives you time to rethink your life choices.

 

Some hoops are good I think, making it this excessive is absurd but I do think barriers can be good

 

Yeah I have no problem if it’s like 2 factor authentication or something but locking me out of my account and having to contact customer support rather than get my password simply reset is insane to me haha

Everyone else: Has anyone here messed with Archipelago and done multiplayer runs with it? I really want to set one up but am not sure how in over my head I am/how smoothly it goes.

I think metroidvania is anything with ability-locked progression and a fair amount of backtracking. I haven't played a soulslike but I'm sure a lot of them fit that description. ppl seem to call anything with difficult combat a soulslike. Genre is a convenient but potentially reductive double edged sword

You wouldn’t think so because enthusiasts can not shut up about them, but except for a few tentpole titles there’s not a big market for it, and there’s way too many games for how big the market is.

I know people are going to get Very Mad at this but PoP literally did nothing interesting with the genre. It’s the most by the numbers ‘vania I know of. There’s no reason to play that game over an Ori, a Hollow Knight and especially not over something like Dread.

And once again, I refuse to believe people give half a shit about PoP as a franchise in the year of our lord 2024.

What people want isn’t new Prince of Persia. What people want is more Sands of Time.
