Nice catch, I will almost certainly be skipping that set now. Unrelated, it's so weird to see St. spelled out in St. Louis

I went last year and GA for the side stages was pretty wide open since the main stages drew a huge crowd. I believe it was a total of four stages last year, two side and two main with the two side stages split down the middle with VIP in the center and GA on the sides of them, facing away from each other sort of. It's not a far walk, maybe 5 minutes or so unless you're right up against the stages.

The side stages last year didn't really get crowded until the sun went down, but they weren't bad at all. Main stages are a whole different animal, I couldn't get anywhere near them (I was GA only). VIP for main is going to be the move, you shouldn't really need it for the side stages but it's going to be a huge help for the main stages just to avoid the sea of people that'll be in the way.

This is the map for last year, I'd be shocked if it wasn't similar (maybe they add another stage somewhere in there with bands presumably playing longer sets than last year for album plays).

I will bet they will have a 5th stage because the sets will be longer overall, here is the map of 2022 when they had five stages

That makes a lot of sense, that fifth stage is a good spot for some of those smaller bands that would otherwise seem a little out of place on the bigger stages. There were a few smaller acts (Games We Play, AJJ, Jean Dawson) that played to pretty small crowds and moving them to a different stage should make it less sparse. I could see them having bands like Mom Jeans, Daisy Grenade or Against The Current getting a spot there instead of slotting them in early on the side stages and creating some conflicts later in the day.

does this imply that music is starting at 10:30 or that’s when gates open?

If last year is any indication, gates were 11am and Fenix Tx was up first on main at 11:10am with Games We Play opening the side stages at 11:15am. The lines to get in moved fairly quickly, but stay alert as they weren't super well defined until you got closer to the security check (which itself wasn't very thorough last year unless you were bringing in a backpack).

I'll disagree slightly and say the first year was a cake walk and the only confusing part was people formed lines blocks in advance sort of organically? Just walk to the gates as it goes from a single line sidewalk to a wide open area with a bunch of gates. Year 1 was really easy to get in.

Last year sucked and it took well over an hour to get in and I missed 2 or 3 bands that started early.

    2 pieces of advice
    - PUT YOUR TICKET IN YOUR GOOGLE WALLET. Service sucks and several people had to leave, go to somewhere with service and get back in line once they had their ticket. Don't rely on being able to pull it up from online (though maybe I'm just wrong this year and it's all wristbands? VIP is. Maybe it all is to avoid this issue?
    - There are also special lines. I think google wallet had a separate line last year I didn't know about. Maybe t moble or Verizon had some quicker entrance too?

  12. Feel like it was so hot last year they started letting us in at 1030. I remember getting in and having enough time to walk around and get to the fenix tx stage and still waiting for like 20 mins.

Anyone use the Verizon entry line? Do you just show them your phone, or is there something you have to do ahead of time?

Yeah, I think T-Mobile and Google Wallet had special lines off to the side that were pretty short, it was just a sea of people standing around to try and figure out where to go. I didn't bring a bag and instead pocketed everything (collapsible water bottle, earplugs, wallet, phone) and got through pretty easily after taking the bus from Fremont. I think I got over in the area around 10am, was in line at 10:30-10:45ish, and got in by 11:15 or so because Fenix was already on stage and playing and I think GWP was just starting.

Phone service is definitely trash at the festival grounds, I absolutely recommend saving a schedule to your phone and don't plan on having service.

Is there really a special line this year? The regular line sucks with staff having to check everyones ID, I get it, it saves time later on for drinks.

It was cold year 1 with the wind when the sun went down. I was freezing in shorts. If this weather holds, I will be ecstatic, looks perfect to just bring a flannel for later and chill.

Depending on where ya'll are staying, I'd suggest the monorail. I did that the first year and it was better than ubers that I did the 2nd year, but I also left really early year 1 and partially early year 2. As dumb as this sounds, I'm tempted to stay till the end this year and walk back to the Excalibur (as my group will not stay till McR). I had a friend who walked last year as he stayed for Green day till the end and he just made a few drink pit stops, took him about 90mins with some stops (we both walk a lot and faster on average than the time google maps gives).

Monorail is the move if you’re on the line. Might be a wait, but you’ll be thankful for a chance to sit. I tried Uber back to downtown and it was a mess trying to get one anywhere near the fest at the end last year, so I ended up walking in that direction and catching one closer. My legs were DONE by the end of the day.

FWIW, TMobile Arena has the PBR Rodeo world championship all weekend so might be a little crowded over there. Last year there was a UFC PPV, a big tech convention, and the WNBA Finals the same weekend.

Oh that's right! I forgot they had to cancel the first date because of the wind. I do remember being hot during new found glory and yellowcard last year.

The first year we messed up and stayed at the orleans, getting the uber was kind of a pain in the ass. Now we just stay at circus circus.

    Things have changed.

I thought they were playing a greatest hits set, so what is this "once-in-a-lifetime" thing they were working on? lol
