surprisingly my theater is still showing The Substance, so we've booked tickets for Saturday. still avoiding spoilers at all costs. excited to experience it all.

Absolutely swamped personally and at work this October and haven't been able to get to much. It's really bumming me out.

It’s weird to me that Urban Legend doesn’t get the same nostalgia 90s horror movie love and/or attention that scream/i know what you did last summer/halloween H20/etc.

And as I’m watching it now I completely forgot about the Dawson Creek gag with Joshua Jackson lol

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I just don't think it's as good as those lol. maybe a little below H20 level

  6. Not as good as Scream, but more fun than the others imo

The Houses October Built (original version) and Calvaire tonight (if I can stay awake)

Would like to see a movie this weekend. So maybe I’ll give the first two films a go and see how I feel lol

They try way too hard with this crap and it just feels lame imo. Lol

Why? It's just fun marketing for a great movie. People were definitely reacting to it like that when I saw it.

It's a great time for horror.

That video isn’t that bad, but all the warning signs posted at the theaters, and people being taken away in an ambulance, is just too much for me. It’s like someone blowing cigarette smoke in your face while they scream about how cool they are for smoking to see if you’ll join in. Like yeah, both situations could be enjoyable even if I end up feeling sick to my stomach, but someone doing that is not making me want to do it more. Lol

It’s nothing against the movies and the fact that I haven’t watched them isn’t actually intentional. I just suck at watching stuff because of many things. But that kind of marketing isn’t fun for me personally. I could do with never seeing a theater cam for a horror movie again in general. Lmao

fair enough, I do think the ambulance and puke things are probably overkill but I think because there is so much stuff these days movies have to do what they can to try and stand out. the films themselves are ridiculously over the top so I guess it makes sense for the marketing to be too haha.

That’s a good point. It’s totally just a personal preference thing for me. After this weekend, I hope they pivot to just clowning on the fact that they topped Joker 2 in its 2nd week.

  17. Woah, I though The Houses October Built (Original Version) on Shudder was like an alternate version of the first film, but it's actually their first take on it? Like, totally different footage iirc. A lot of it is just straight-up a 2011 documentary about haunted houses and aside from the ending, it's pretty hard to tell what's legitimate and what's made up lol. I had to Google the story about the scare actor that snapped and killed his family and sure enough, that happened. Definitely worth a watch if you're into like...Halloween time capsule content and haunted house documentaries. A lot of the quality and shoddy editing gave early Jackass vibes (complimentary). Definitely something @OhTheWater would be into

    Martyrs mentioned, real sicko here

Kevin Bacon is the star of one of my least favorite horror movies, The Darkness, which is terrible all around.

  25. The Love Witch aside, Bacon seems to have great taste and he always brings gravitas to his films, good or not so good. I'm a fan!
