I like that Ends exists because it's so bonkers for a Halloween movie, but I wish it was more like a epilogue and that we got a more cohesive ending to the DGG trilogy.

I don’t know how Ends is bonkers. It completely ignores the previous two movies to focus on a very unlikeable character that has no previous connection to the trilogy while Michael chills in the sewer for 75 percent of the movie. Literally one of the dumbest things endings to a trilogy. At least Kills is good dumb fun.

  7. I think Kills and Ends are both very bad, but I also think 2018 is just okay. That one tracking shot does some heavy lifting

About halfway through The Skin I Live In and I’m loving it but it is deeply uncomfortable

  14. A lot of my original criticisms of Halloween Ends still stand (as @The Spoonman said, "Beware the nefarious Corey!"), but on rewatch, I see the vision. I just think there's a lot of connective tissue missing throughout the trilogy.

Looks like I'm gonna have to see Terrifier 3 on Friday night instead of Thursday because the theater will be closed for the hurricane. Only getting a tropical storm in my area so don't worry about me lol

  16. rewatched Starry Eyes. It's kinda like a cross between The Substance and MaXXXine, but not as good or as fun as either of those. It shares some of the same themes as The Substance in that it's about a woman who wants to attain fame and success, at any cost, by any means necessary, but it's less body-horror-y and more murder-y. Like MaXXXine, it has this 80s throwback synth score, but unlike MaXXXine, it's got cell phones so it's pretty clearly set in the 2010s, and it's visually not as colorful and stylized. The film is actually pretty gritty and gruesome so the music feels out of place. I kinda wish it leaned into a distinct aesthetic more. Anyway, I like Alex Essoe in this, she's really pretty--I mean, pretty good. Her performance, I mean. Yyyup... She's been in several Flanagan projects but she's always a side character, like, the mom who dies, so it's cool to see her in... a starring role

Watched Humane tonight and absolutely loved it. I totally dig the Ready or Not/Purge vibes and it was probably the most fun I’ve had with a movie this year.

Finished up my rewatch of the entirety of Over the Garden Wall yesterday to complete the extra credit prompt for favorite Halloween special for Gore-Us. Near perfectt miniseries. Second and seventh episodes remain my favorites.

Then I watched Haunted Trail this morning for the prompt for a Halloween movie under 2k logs (has over 500) on letterboxd. Your standard slasher set at a haunted trail attraction but man I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. Fun and had me laughing a couple times. Found the cast to be super likeable. It'd work perfectly if you wanted to it marathon it with Haunt and Hell Fest
