It’s a real bummer because my parents moved to Florida a few years ago to semi-retire.

Bought a home right on the gulf. Invested a lot of time and money in it.

I expressed skepticism at the time given the climate, but they scoffed at me.

There home was rocked hard with Helene. I’m afraid Milton might just destroy it outright.

It’s weird to feel vindicated but also really bummed for my parents.

Saw an ad for Lucas Kunce, Josh Hawley’s opponent and it highlights the one effective Dem talking point here: Being pro-choice. Then it says how he’ll keep the border secure and is pro 2A. Like, it’s so desperate that they embrace these Republican talking points.

My mom is gonna likely working at the nursing home during this, and my dad said he is staying home. Because I know them so well I have a strong feeling they have a backyard filled will Helene tree debris they didn't pick up. If that is the case I am going to try to convince my 63 year old physically disabled father that it would be better ride it out in my apartment. I don't want him to be alone, but also rather not be stuck in a death trap. If they call our area to evacuate then that is going to make things more complicated.

 

I am not a Jill Stein fan, but maybe instead of crying about her Harris could run on things that Stein voters care about to win them over like Climate Change and, especially in MI, cutting off arms support for Israel. If she loses MI it’s not Stein’s fault, it’s hers.
