I was a natural reader growing up but there were so many books I had to read in middle school and high school for various classes and I cannot fathom not having to do that. It's not just about reading the classics and getting appreciation for art, but being able to dissect themes and develop reading comprehension is so fucking important just as a functioning human being. No wonder this world is getting dumber.

I took AP English in high school, and it was my most favorite class I ever took; really helped improve my skills at dissecting themes, storylines, and deeper meanings in all kinds of texts

Yyyyep. Said it yesterday or the day before, the politics of this on Twitter are super fucking weird. Most lefties are all in on support but I’ve seen some left wing people, and mostly a lot of libs, side eye the Union leader’s trump ties. Then on the right you’ve got a weird dynamic going where they’re reflexively anti-Union, especially the moderate tech bro types, and going after him for being rich, and then the MAGA types are like being really…idk, coy?….about it where they’re not expressing any support for the union but they’re also quote tweeting the leader’s speeches and stuff like woah look at this because he’s a Trump guy I guess. then you look in the replies and they’re like ‘yeah I don’t really support the union’ lol

 

this post freaked me out at first because I thought they used a picture of my house for the article, but then I realized that the guest house in the pic is smaller than mine

 

Personally, I try to line up as many contracts as I can to expire prior to elections, and (if it’s possible to pull off) am 100% of the time threatening to strike ahead of those elections. The President might suck - they usually do - but some 45000 people had to vote on striking and they have very straightforward demands. Insane sidestep by those people.

 

the left wing position is to support the strike.
